Fenig - Leah | Hobbie - Shelonei
Fenig Durak: Working -riiiight- diligently at cleaning
out her personal datafiles, Fen was rereading old counselling files on
most of the crew back on the Predator
post Jake.
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie, as usual, was working in his
office, keeping on t he radionews and listening with growing anger at the
exploits of the one dubbed as the "masked vigilante" aka Durron
Fenig Durak: Fen'd had it on for a while until the news
did a recap of the current body count, washing Fen in nausea again until
she turned it off and spent about 5 minutes in the fresher.
Fenig Durak: Of course, that doesn't account for the
10 that morning...
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie angrily turned off the radio.
with a count up to just south of four hundred, he was not pleased. The
last group of bodies weren't that far awa either.. He'd better go check
on Feni and Wes.
Fenig Durak: She sighed softly and popped a few breathmints.
Hobbie Klivian: Since Feni's place was closer, and
on the way to Wes', He stopped there first and palmed the doorbuzz.
Fenig Durak: "Come in!" she called, popping yet another
breathmint.
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie palmed the door open. "Hey
Fen... "
Fenig Durak: Crunching down on the mint, she smiled softly
at him. "Hey, Hobbs. What's up?" Shut down the holorecording of Ran blabbing
about women and relationships.
Hobbie Klivian: "Nothing really, just kinda checking
in. Sorry about yesterday."
Fenig Durak: "No apologies," I'm getting used to it. Though she smiled, and waved for him
to sit. "That it, or was there something else?"
Hobbie Klivian: "Well..." Hobbie stayed standing and
s hoved his hands in his pockets. "Just wanted to tell you to be careful.
You should probably keep
Hobbie Klivian: yoru door and windows locked." not that it'd make much of a difference.... he mentally sighed/
Fenig Durak: "Alright. I can do that." She leaned back
in her chair and rubbed her head.
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie's eyes narrowd in concern,
"you feeling alright?"
Fenig Durak: "Yeah, just got a headache is all. And
a bit of nausea. Nothing out of the ordinary."
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie nodded, "Well, if you're anything
like Iella was, you'll be fine in a few months."
Fenig Durak: "Like Iella? Try, like all women who I'eve
ever known that had kids."
Fenig Durak: "What's Wes up to, by the way?"
Hobbie Klivian: He shrugged, "She's the only one I
was around while sh was pregnant."
Hobbie Klivian: "Don't know. Probably eating."
Hobbie Klivian: He shrugged. "I was going to drop
by his place next."
Fenig Durak: "Oh, alright. Tell him I said hi?"
Hobbie Klivian: "You wanna come too?"
Fenig Durak: She thought for a short moment, tempted
to say yes, she even got ready to get out of her chair before she reminded
herself about prior events. "Uh, no. I'd better not."
Hobbie Klivian: "You sure?"
Fenig Durak: "No, but it's probably best if I don't go."
She smiled lightly and shrugged, leaning back in her seat again
Hobbie Klivian: "How come?" he was still standing...
Fenig Durak: "No reason," she lied.
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie just looked at her.
Hobbie Klivian: He moved and sat down beside her on
the couch.
Fenig Durak: She understood completely why he did, though
she did her best to act confused. "What's up?"
Hobbie Klivian: "I should be asking you that."
Fenig Durak: "Nothing's up. Really." Another lie.
Hobbie Klivian: "Fen..."
Fenig Durak: "Yeah?"
Hobbie Klivian: "What's wrong?"
Fenig Durak: "Nothing's wrong," though the deep look
in her eyes said blatantly otherwise. Course, Hobbie knew that.
Hobbie Klivian: He leaned back and looked at her.
"Feni, a week ago you got me to talking. A few weeks ago I cried on you
shoulder. If you can't talk to me,
Hobbie Klivian: I'm not much of a friend, then."
He looked at her candidly. "Talk to me, Fen. What's eating you?"
Fenig Durak: She studied his face a moment, seeing in
his eyes of blue everything she had ever wanted in a best friend and more.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she sighed and shook her
head. "Same thing that was eating when I
Fenig Durak: learned about my 'little blessing' " Was
that a scowl? No, but a definate frown.
Hobbie Klivian: "What's that?"
Fenig Durak: She squirmed under the 'interrogation' a
bit. "You know Wes better than I do. He's not ready for any of this stuff
that I'm dumping on him."
Hobbie Klivian: "I see."
Fenig Durak: "That's it? You drag an answer from me
and all you can say is that's it?" She was ready to laugh at that.
Hobbie Klivian: He sighed. "What am I supposed to
say? I don't know what to tell you, Fen. I'm sorry."
Fenig Durak: "Yeah, you're right. Besides, I think I'm
just making something out of nothing."
Hobbie Klivian: "You probably are," he smiled softly.
Fenig Durak: "Yeah. You're right."
Hobbie Klivian: "Nice to know SOMEONE thinks I am,"
he chuckled.
Fenig Durak: "Hobbs, in my experience -and this never
leaves this room- you're right more often than not."
Hobbie Klivian: Kablink.
Fenig Durak: "What?"
Hobbie Klivian: "nothing, I just didn't expect that."
Fenig Durak: "Well, the way I see it, you're right a
lot. At least with me."
Hobbie Klivian: "well, thanks. I appreciate that sentiment."
Fenig Durak: Since they were seated onthe same couch,
she turned a bit and leaned back against him, pulling his arm around her
shoulders, putting them in a position of sort of loosely hugging/reclining.
"Welcome."
Hobbie Klivian: He chuckled, shaking his head, t hen
sighed. "So, I know there's more bothering you than just your and wes'
baby."
Fenig Durak: "Well, it's not the baby. So much of me
wants this baby. Tells me that I'm ready and that I want the family, but-"
She shook her head. "Wes isn't and I can't make him love me. It's not
right. I mean, how do you make a man want
Fenig Durak: a family?" Did she just say love? She
hoped she hadn't and that Hobbie had missed it. Frueding Whip. er...Slip.
Hobbie Klivian: He had caught it, but said nothing
about it. He hugged her a moment then settled back again comfortably.
"You're right, you can't make
Hobbie Klivian: someone want something. I can't tell
you what he does or doesn't want, though. Wish I could." He sighed with
remembered loss. He almost'd had a family.
Fenig Durak: Tugging his arm tighter around her, she
hugged him back. "Sometimes I wish it was you instead." Man, things keep
coming out of her mouth unchecked.
Hobbie Klivian: He froze... after a few moments, he
sighed, "No you don't Fen. But thanks for the sentiment."
Fenig Durak: She turned a bit to look up at him. "Yeah
I do. There are lots of reasons why I think you'd be a better father."
Hobbie Klivian: "I take it life-expectancy isn't an
issue here?" he asked blandly.
Fenig Durak: She poked him in the ribs. "That's not
what I meant."
Hobbie Klivian: He put his hand to his side reflexively.
"No, I don't thinkyou know what I meant. I'm bad luck for people's life
expectancies."
Fenig Durak: "What a load of crap and you know it."
Hobbie Klivian: "is it?" He's totally serious here.
Fenig Durak: "Yes, it is. I want to know what evidence
you have to support that."
Hobbie Klivian: "Easy. Any family I've had, or come
close to having, has been killed, torn apart, or practically banished."
Hobbie Klivian: Candid. He gets that way sometimes.
Specially when he's on the boarder of a mood.
Fenig Durak: "What about Wes? And Wedge, and Tycho,
and Myn and everyone here?"
Hobbie Klivian: "Different kind of family."
Hobbie Klivian: Yup, he really believes that. May
not be rational, but beliefs rarely are.
Fenig Durak: "Well, lets run a little experiment then,
shall we?"
Hobbie Klivian: He raised his eyebrows, "what kind
of experiment?"
Fenig Durak: "I consider you family, reguardless of blood
ties or any of that crap. You're my family now. Have been for almost a
year. So in a few months time, if I'm still standing and breathing, your
theory is flawed and you need to
Fenig Durak: rexamine it. IF not, then you were right,
I was wrong, you get everythign of mine. I've got some great music cards."
Hobbie Klivian: He got up, and walked to look out the
window. "No deal," he said when he'd gotten to it and was looking out on
the coruscant skytraffic.
Fenig Durak: "I don't think it works that way, Hobbs."
She stood and moved to his side, slipping an arm around his waist. "You
can't choose family. Just like you can't choose who you love." SHe sighed
at that.
Hobbie Klivian: He leaned on a hand against the windowframe.
He didn't sigh. He didn't say anthing. He just worked his jaw as he
looked out the window. Damnit Fen, don't you know you're signing yourself
a death warrant?
Fenig Durak: HEr other arm wrapped itself around Hobbie's
waist so she could hug him fondly. Death warrant indeed.
Hobbie Klivian: He sighed then. "You're impossible."
Fenig Durak: "Yeah, I am, but that's part of why y'all
love me, right?" She looked up at him, smiling gently, "Right?"
Hobbie Klivian: He chuckled, and nodded; still not
looking away from the window.
Fenig Durak: "Hobbs?"
Hobbie Klivian: He shook his head ruefully and looked
down at her, "Yes, Fen. Youre right. You're absolutely kriffing right.
Happy?" he smiled and raised his eyebrows.
Fenig Durak: "That's not what I was going to say." She
squeezed him closer before pressing a warm kiss to his cheek. "I was going
to tell you that you're the best friend I've ever had."
Hobbie Klivian: "You know..." his joking mood was starting
to come back. "that's pretty sad."
Fenig Durak: Another tight hug. "Nah, it's not sad at
all." Another squeeze. "And I was going to tell you that whatever woman
you end up with will be a lucky woman indeed."
Hobbie Klivian: "Well, a pity to that phantom woman,"
he shook his head, "Cause i think I've decided to be a confirmed bachelor."
Fenig Durak: "How unfortunate for the millions of women
out there searching for a compassionate, and handsome man."
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie snorted.
Fenig Durak: "I'm serious!" She leaned back from him
to look up to his face.
Hobbie Klivian: "No. You're pregnant and optomistic.
There's a difference."
Fenig Durak: "Hey now.... there's nothing wrong with
being optimistic."
Hobbie Klivian: "Perhaps, but I'm not one."
Fenig Durak: "Then I'll just have to be optimistic enough
for both of us." What was that?! A kick in the arse? No! It was another
hug!
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie shook his head, "You're going
to make me old before my time, Miss Durak," he chuckled.
Fenig Durak: "ANd how am I going to manage that?"
Hobbie Klivian: "Just by being yourself."
Fenig Durak: "Oh yeah? Well, I could say the same about
you. But then, I'm being doubled teamed since I worry about Wes too. And
in nine months, triple timed with the baby."
Hobbie Klivian: "I'm not going to win, am I?"
Fenig Durak: "Hey! Guess what! You're right again."
What is it with her and hugging on Hobbie today?
Hobbie Klivian: What IS it with her and hugs today?
Maybe he'd better get out of there.... it's worrying him that he doesn't
want her to stop. He slipped away. "I really should get going."
Fenig Durak: "Yeah, you probably should," she nodded
in reluctant agreement. "One request though?
Fenig Durak: "
Hobbie Klivian: "What's that?"
Fenig Durak: In a quick, two-step movement, she had her
arms wrapped around him once more. "Just one more hug before you go. You
give such great hugs."
Hobbie Klivian: He hugged her back. "Just be careful
Fen. Promise me you'll keep your doors locked when you're here... and
not go outside the base by yourself."
Fenig Durak: "Alright. I promise." She smiled reassuringly
before placing a kiss to his cheek.
Hobbie Klivian: He smiled, then. "Thank you."
Hobbie Klivian: Impulsively, a word that isn't usually
used with him, he kissed her forehead before heading to the door.
Fenig Durak: "Hobbie?" she called after him before he
left.
Hobbie Klivian: He turned around, "Yes?"
Fenig Durak: "Uh.....say hi to Wes for me, ok?"
Fenig Durak: Not what she was initially going to say,
but yeah....
Hobbie Klivian: His sigh was almost one of disappointment.
Funny how a man can be so eloquent with simple sighs. "Yeah, I'll do
that, Fen." He half smiled, "Be careful, okay? If you need anything, comm
me."
Fenig Durak: "Alright." She smiled as he left and waited
long enough for him to get a dozen steps away from her door before comming
him.
Hobbie Klivian: C> Klivian.
Fenig Durak: C> Hobbie? I need you for something.
Hobbie Klivian: C> -=chuckle=-
Hobbie Klivian: He turned around and headed back.
C>"What's taht?"
Fenig Durak: C> "Another hug. Think you can take
care of that for me?" Now she was just being a pest.
Hobbie Klivian: C> -=click=-
Hobbie Klivian: A moment later, her door buzzed.
Fenig Durak: And she was there, ready to open it the
split second the door buzzer sounded. "Hey there! Man, you got here fast."
Hobbie Klivian: "I have long legs."
Hobbie Klivian: Was that a joke? gasp!
Fenig Durak: And it was funny too! She chuckled softly,
eyeing him over a moment before nodded her approval. "Yes you do. No wonder
your fighter seat is so far back. Man, if I had legs like that..." she
stopped, grinning a bit mischevously.
Hobbie Klivian: "What?"
Fenig Durak: "Nothing. Where's my hug?"
Hobbie Klivian: "Not until you finish that statement,"
he smiled.
Fenig Durak: Sigh. "Alright. If I had legs like that,
I could probably wrap them around someone's waist twice before crossing
my ankles," but that was the more..... 'adult' side of her.
Hobbie Klivian: He blinked, then he threw his head
back and laughed. he appreciated the humour. "Alright alright, the hug,"
he leaned over and hugged her tightly. "You're a piece of work Fen."
Fenig Durak: She hugged him right back just as tight.
"Why thank you! That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard."
Hobbie Klivian: he chuckled, "That's pretty sad. We'll
have to work on that."
Fenig Durak: Loosening her hug on him, she searched his
eyes, "Is that a promise?"
Hobbie Klivian: "I won't make promises I can't keep.
But I'll try," he smiled.
Fenig Durak: She pressed two fingers to her temple and
pretended to concentrate. "I don't forsee any problems with keeping a promise
like that."
Hobbie Klivian: "I guess not,' he half smiled. "I'm
sure I can think of several t hings, all true,i could say... but I'd probably
get slugged for them, so I won't."
Fenig Durak: "No no, now I'm curious. Please, share."
Her fingers laced behind his waist, holding her arms around him and giving
her a brace to lean back upon.
Hobbie Klivian: He shifted his stance so that he wouldn't
topple over. "I can't."
Fenig Durak: "Why not?"
Hobbie Klivian: "Well, the ones that come most quickly
to mind, I've no right to say, simple as that."
Fenig Durak: "Why not? Between friends. Just say it."
Hobbie Klivian: "You're an amazing woman, Fen. If
Wes doesn't see that, and wake up and do something about it soon, then he's
a fool." hobbie said honestly, evading her eyes.
Fenig Durak: That made her smile lightly at first, the
grin growing a bit wider as the seconds passed. "Now was that really so
hard?"
Hobbie Klivian: He shrugged, still not looking at her.
Fenig Durak: "Is that how you really feel, Hobbie?"
Her voice had gotten a bit softer in that question.
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie coughed, "I, uh... I really
should get going...."
Hobbie Klivian: He was looking anywhere but at her.
Fenig Durak: "Not until you answer me. You dragged an
answer from me, now it's my turn."
Hobbie Klivian: "No, really, I uh... and work and stuff...."
he waved a hand stupidly.
Fenig Durak: "Hobbie, look at me please?" Freeing fingers,
she tried to angle his chin back to look at her.
Hobbie Klivian: Reluctantly, he did so.
Fenig Durak: "Now tell me, do you really believe all
of that stuff?"
Hobbie Klivian: Hobbie looked down at the floor between
them, "Fen, I really should go."
Fenig Durak: "After you've answered me." Once again,
she lifted his chin so she could look into his eyes.
Hobbie Klivian: Finally, he answered. In a whisper.
"Yeah."
Fenig Durak: She didn't really know how to reply to that,
she she huggedhim again, resting her cheek against his.
Hobbie Klivian: He hugged her back, then stepped away,
looking at her dolefully. "But I'm a bigger fool for not doing anything
back when it
Hobbie Klivian: could have made a difference." he reached
out and tucked a few stray strands she had behind her ear, then quickly
left, the door sliding shut behind him.
Fenig Durak: She blinked a few times before heaving a
hefty sigh and returning to cleaning out her files.
Hobbie Klivian: ---------
