The learner should have at least a third grade reading level (and some words may still be a bit challenging), prior knowledge of how to use the computer mouse to follow page links, prior knowledge of the "back" button to return from links outside the website, and also knowledge of how to print out pages from the computer for a recipe and the activity of drawing King One-Click's castle. In addition, they will need to know the letter-writing format for personal letters, which is used in a final letter to King One-Click.

The students working with this WebQuest will also benefit from having library research skills. At this time, there are minimal child-safe links available for research, and so this webquest will be significantly enhanced if they are allowed to research in books from the library.
