Well, as one who lives in the United States and daily witnesses a massive nationwide, if not worldwide, ignorance including my own, I have come to believe there must be someone who has a reason this ignorance is so common. I finally stumbled upon the answer, which is a combination of things. Laziness is the number one reason for the sickening and possibly destructive amount of people lacking in knowledge of important issues. Many people don't want to go out and learn about anything. Just about everybody wants a handout and hence the existance of the Democratic party. The second reason for ignorance is the amazing greed, or better stated, lack of care for the fellow man. Those who don't care won't bother to hear about issues that barely touch their lives and react quickly and violently to those that do. Maybe not physical violence, but there will be a violence to the reaction. See my work section for some interesting thoughts on such topics as this.
