Rising from the depths of the industrial wasteland, Videodrone's self-titled debut album is a high-tech oasis of pure emotional chaos and riveting angst.
Videodrone, who has been showcased as an opening act for Korn, was signed to Korn's label, Elementree Records.
Korn's lead singer Jonathan Davis even makes a guest vocal appearance on the album in "Ty Jonathan Down," while Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit provides guest vocals on "Human Piņata."
Originally from California, the group began as Cradle of Thorns in 1988, releasing a series of albums such as 1990's Remember It Day, followed by 1994's Feed Us and Download This.
As CoT, they gained a national, underground following, and toured with acts such as Social Distortion and Offspring.
Videodrone is composed of Ty Elam (vocals), David File (guitar), Rohan (keyboards and samples), Mavis (bass and backing vocals) and Kris Kohls (drums and percussion).
With songs like "The Devil's Sweepstakes" and "Ant in the Dope," the influence of Korn is obvious.
Although some songs on Videodrone resemble the sound of the rock band Orgy, the band has its own indescribable sound.
"We really concentrated on each song, trying out a lot of different ideas until we came up with directions that really worked," drummer Kris Kohls said.
Videodrone's self-titled album seems to have the right noise.
