Before you guys become full out hardcore, you guys really need to get a better grasp on the whole scene. No offense, but Slipknot is not metal whatsoever, and either is Deaftones. They're both rather mediocre, well actually Slipknot is one of the crappiest bands ever, but Deaftones are ok they just aren't very hard. I know John has a good grasp on what Hardcore is, since he listens to Living Sacrifice and Zao, two very talented bands. However you still need to broaden your horizons. Bands like Dillinger's Escape Plan, Creation is Crucifixtion, Strongarm, (Old) Training for Utopia (Plastic Soul Empalement Album), as well as Overcome, Eso Charis, (old) Embodyment, and to a lesser extent Hatebreed and Earthcrisis and just about anything off of Akeldama, Steadfast, and Boot to Head records. I would highly suggest you go out and listen to these bands in order to enlighten yourself. And ask to borrow John's Living Sacrifice Cd (Reborn) to start it off. Oh, and is you want to hear really good local Metal, so you can get a better idea of what you're up against, go to www.mp3.com/laurelin. We've played a couple shows with these guys, and we are really good friends with them. K, thats my speel. Good Luck
Jason
Grant, how's it going. Glad to see things are going so well for you guys! It's good to see our friends do well. I mean that sincerely. However, as to your recent entry in our guestbook, I'd like to address a few issues. 1. We chose "hardcore" as a label for lack of a better one. We are going to play hard music, how we want to, not conforming to any one way of sounding, not like Slipknot, not like Living Sacrifice. If we end up sounding like them, cool, if not whatever. 2. The vast majority of the bands you told us to go "enlighten" ourselves on are Christian Bands. I hate to break it to you Grant but Christian Rock has definite boundries and limitations, and is going (at least I think) nowhere fast. Religion is a personal matter, and frankly I'm getting sick of all these bands getting preachy on me. I listen to music to lighten up a bit. I do my philosophy and theology when my head is clear and not occupied by the strains of rock music. 3. We play music first and foremost for fun, not to be some big band, or to be part of some scene or to be accepted by a bunch of narrow minded punks. (Not to say punks are narrow minded, I use the term "punks" loosly, like a 75 year old would "damn punk kids.") I think all these people who say "all hardcore should sound like Living Sacrifice" need to lighten up and realize that music is whatever you want it to be. If I think harcore is Garth Brooks, then Garth Brooks is pretty hard core. 4. The bands I'm listening to lately are Sepultura (gotta respect Sepultura), Nailbomb, In Extremo, Zao, Soulfly, Static-X, and Tagtraum (these guys aren't metal.) So take what you will from that. Anyway I wish you guys nothing but luck. All three of you are friends of mine and I do not mean to insult or offend you with these comments, merely replying to a message from Grant. Take care and see you tomorrow.

Hey, just so you knwo the only bands that I mentioned that are Christian are Living Sacrifice, Zao, and Embodyment. The rest are not at all. Creation is Crucifixtion talks only about computers coming alive and killing people. YOu REALLY need to hear these guys to discover true metal as well as Dillinger's escape plan. And I'm not saying you should sound like Living Sacrifice, or any other band for that matter, but good technical metal is a very difficult persuit and the scene is a rough place to be, so I'm just suggesting you better educate yourself. And if you guys are trying to get into this scene I would really go to www.mp3.com/laurelin cause that is what you are up against. K, thats it. See ya later.

Well, we are not trying to be part of a "scene," we're just playing music and having some fun. What comes of that comes of it. Also, I've seen Lauerlin and they're ok. However, I don't view it as being "up against" them, we're all just playing music an having fun.
