History of Tone Deaf George

How much of a history could TDG have? Well, not much really, but if u wanna be bored and read about our rather insignificant past then read on.

Well, Tone Deaf George started in like spring, I think, of 98 when three kids with a vision of playing crappy songs came together. Mike Retondo, Wayne Schulatz, and Joe Levesque were the founding members. They named themselves after a local friend named George who has no sense of musical tone (hence the name). After playing a party or two, they asked Jay Hansen to come and play bass for them cause the band wanted two guitar players. Having very little experience, Jay accepted because he always wanted to be in a band and he needed to use the bass and amp that he bought. After Jay joined, TDG started writing some original, and not so crappy, songs and once again played a party. After this, Joe left the band because of musical differences, so they were a three-piece.

This brings us to August when, with the persuasion from Jay, TDG decided to bring Joe Cudiamat on as a 2nd guitar player. Joe was in a band with Mike about three years prior, called Paintcan. Once again, TDG played a party, that actually got broken up, but they wanted to start playing more places and local spots around the area. TDG finally got hooked up to play at the local Lombard Community Center. They started practicing more to get ready and brought in two horn players cause they wanted their ska songs to sound more badass. Ed Pieszchala was called to play sax and Nikki Maggio to play trumpet. Having playing to about 80 or so people at LCC, they got some exposure and finally started to take things more seriously, well sorta.

On January 4th, 1999, Tone Deaf George had a goal of their's happen when they played to about 40 people at the famed Fireside Bowl. Most people would think of it as nothing, but for a band that only practices once in a millenium or so, it was a great thing. Of course, they didnt get the gig themselves, but so what!?!? A gig is a gig. The current line-up of the band remains in tack and hopefully there will be more things added to this history section soon. They play whenever they can, cause hopefully it might add up some day and TDG will get big. If not, oh well, its still fun, and that's what is about!

[I did not write a word of this!!]
