He worked as an underground coal miner for nearly 20 years, in the coal fields of Southern Illinois. Frank was a roof bolter, working to secure the top after the coal seam was removed, one of the most dangerous jobs in the mine.

Frank is married, the father of four, and grandfather of four. He is a Christian and tries to serve the Lord in every way he can. His interests include gardening, reading (mostly horror novels), traveling, and staying physically fit. He loves spending time with his wife and kids on those rare occasions when he can be home, going camping and hiking in the mountains, drinking a good cup of coffee, and apple pie (not necessarily in that order!).
