The Silver Rose Clan is a small group of people who have come together to help ourselves and each other to grow spiritually and magickally. We study, together and independently, various religions, magickal systems, as well as various 'alternative' healing methods.
We have a common starting point in our spiritual journey. We all come from Christian families. We were all considered 'different' because of our interest in the paranormal, or our Divinity-given gifts in this area. Each member had found that the faith our family embraced wasn't fulfilling our spiritual needs. It was (in our opinion) either too restrictive, too hypocritical, too intolerant of other's beliefs, or had too many contradictions, etc., etc..
This website reflects some of our belief system, and offers links to other sites that contain some of the information we have chosen to incorporate into our own spiritual path.
We don't profess to have the 'right' spiritual path for anyone other than ourselves. Nor do we deny the validity of other's belief systems. We have borrowed heavily from Wicca, Kabbalah, and Christianity. We have blended what we perceive to be the best of them into our own. As we continue our journey, we will most likely borrow from other religious teachings as well.
This page is a very rudimentary sketch of our group. Since you the reader probably don't know us, we will only provide you with what information you will find interesting and useful.
Many religions and cultures have provided laws by which the adherents are to abide. We have studied many of these systems, and we will be presenting here those we find to be inspiring and enlightening. First of all, we have provided the Wiccan Rede. Following are the laws of our own Silver Rose Clan, which can also be found in our Book of Lights and Shadows. Then are the Five Principles of Reiki, a powerful system of energy healing. We have begun to provide our spiritual précis of the Judeo-Christian Decalogue (Ten Commandments), but it is not yet complete. In time, there will be others, and perhaps even a section devoted to ethics. Bear with us, we have very little free time.
The Wiccan Rede: If ye harm none, do as ye will.
The Wiccan Rede is the chief Wiccan law, our central ethical statement. All Wiccans must keep this law; one should not call oneself a Wiccan without accepting this law and trying to follow it. It is the most important of our laws, and the only one universal to all Wiccans.
The Rede says: "If ye harm none, do as ye will." In plain English, this means that no one is ever allowed to harm others. We also must try to not harm ourselves. Harm refers not only to direct physical violence, but also to slander, stealing, breaking promises to another, words that are more harsh than absolutely neccessary, negative thoughts and energy, and most certainly spells that are intended to hurt or control another.
Another important facet of this law, which is the one most commonly "forgotten" (i.e. ignored), is that we do not have the right to try to control the lives of other people. To do so in the mundane world is wrong. To do so with the Power is called black magick. In either case, it is an infringement on the rights of another person, and is therefore harm.
Everything that is not harmful is permissible under the Wiccan Rede.
Although the Rede states that harm is never to occur, most Wiccans (including the Silver Rose Clan) interpret it in such a way that allows for self-defense if peaceful methods are impossible.
Silver Rose Clan's Laws Personal Conduct
Within the Craft
With the Coven
Below is the text of our laws as they originally read when we began. Wicca is a vital religion, and our coven is open to change as we make new realizations. The above is a list of our rules as they are now. Our original set contained not only moral rules, but also basic beliefs of ours. The revised list includes only moral rules in order to make a better distinction between morality and beliefs. Some of the original rules are outdated, and some carry concepts or wording that are somewhat abrasive, and so they have been changed. We've included the original list to show our evolution as a group. Much is the same.

Five Principles of Reiki (written by Mikao Usui)
Two of our members, WillowWater and Firefly, have been attuned to Reiki, which means that they can perform Reiki healing. It is a powerful and very practical system of healing, but it is not for everyone. It is hard to find a Reiki Master who does not charge a small fortune for an attunement, and for some it is not worth the expense. Nonetheless, it is a very potent energy, and the Five Principles are very good ones.

And the Principles are:
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
The Decalogue (Ten Commandments)
This critique of the Decalogue is not yet complete, but we're working on it. At this time it is a very bare-bones sketch.
This is not presented as traditional Judaism or Christianity, but rather as a modern return to the spirit of the law. Please do not think that this is the way traditional Jews or Christians interpret the commandments, or that we think this is how they interpret them. It is, in a sense, a reinventing of a popular theme.
Do not confuse this concept with the Neo-Pagan Sabbats. These days are not considered 'holier' than any other. They are simply major changes in the global energies which
we mark with rituals.
The importance of this commandment is as a reminder to keep spirituality in our hearts on an hourly basis. The Great Spirit should be first and foremost...always.
Our very first law is the Wiccan Rede. One cannot break the Wiccan Rede, nor assist in its breaking, nor condone it. To aid in or condone harm is to cause harm. This rule applies to all. The rules that follow it are practical applications that uphold the Wiccan Rede. They go beyond the Rede in that they not only denounce harm, but also advocate doing good. It is morally acceptable to follow the Wiccan Rede without doing anything more, but we hold ourselves to a higher standard.
1. 'An ye harm none, do as ye will. This law may not be broken, changed, omitted, nor ignored, nor may anyone aid in or condone its breaking.
If for any reason any other rule contradicts this the Wiccan Rede, or if to uphold one of these rules would mean breaking the Wiccan Rede, then break any other rule and uphold the Wiccan Rede.
2. If you know the Rede is being broken, you must work strongly against it.
3. Never boast, or threaten, or speak ill of anyone.
4. Watch, listen, and withhold judgment; in debate, let your silences be long, your thoughts clear, and your words carefully chosen.
5. Be truthful always, save when honesty would lead to great harm.
6. Revere, honor, tend, and heal the Earth.
7. Of that which you grow, make, or use, let as much as possible return to the Earth as a way to nourish the cycle of life.
8. Do not judge those of other paths, but offer them love and aid.
9. Do not steal from human, animal, or spirit; if you have needs you cannot meet, turn to our community.
10. Offer friendship and hospitality to strangers who visit among you.
11. You may not own slaves, and should not willingly be part of any nation, community, or organization which allows slavery. If you are, you should work strongly against it.
12. Raise your children with kindness: feed, clothe, and house them as well as you can. Show them love and affection; teach them love, strength, morality, and wisdom.
13. Deal fairly and honestly in all your transactions with others, following the letter and spirit of any contract you agree to, so long as by doing so you do not do harm.
14. Strive to act always from love, never from anger.
15. Keep the mind open, and the mind and body clean.
16. Live every moment as if the Higher Power is watching. It is.
17. Do not attempt to control the lives and actions of others, except to prevent harm against those who do not freely choose it.
18. Teach only what you know, to the best of your ability, to those who wish it, but do not attempt to teach what you yourself do not know.
19. Do not expose the unready to the Mysteries. It can harm the listener, and lead the listener to cause harm.
20. Do not reveal to outsiders who is Wiccan, or give names or addresses, or do anything which might bring persecution or harm.
21. Never do anything to disgrace the Divine, the Wicca, or any other being.
22. Never use magick for show, pride, or vainglory.
23. Never use a magickal system or application that you do not completely understand.
24. Do not entertain negative thoughts, for the Wicca know that all thoughts are real things and capable of power.
25. Preserve your knowledge in a Book of Shadows so that it will not be lost.
26. Let all that occurs within the coven happen by consensus.
27. A person may only enter the coven at the behest of all members. A person may be dismissed from the coven only if that person breaks these laws or if all other members choose it.
28. A person may only join the coven by free choice, and may freely leave it at any time.
29. If a member breaks the laws, that person should be helped back into compliance with the laws. If that person disagrees with the laws or shows the intent to continue disregarding them, that person should be dismissed from the coven. When considering dismissal, it might be wise for the coven to meet in order to reconsile the person with the laws, changing the laws if neccessary, but not changing the very first law.
30. None may tell outsiders where the covenstead and meetings occur, or the time of the meetings, without the consent of the entire coven.
31. Any laws but the first may be changed with the consent of the entire coven. The first law, the Wiccan Rede, may never be changed or omitted, nor may any other laws contradict it.
If ye harm none, do as ye will. This is the Wiccan Rede, and the oldest and most important of our laws. This is the only law which is common to all Wiccan traditions. In plain English, this means that while there is a lot of leeway, we are not allowed to harm other people. We also must try to not harm ourselves. Harm refers not only to direct physical violence, but also to slander, stealing, breaking promises to another, words that are more harsh than absolutely neccessary, negative thoughts and energy, and most certainly spells that are intended to hurt or control another. Another important facet of this law, which is the one most commonly "forgotten" (i.e. ignored):
We do not have the right to try to control the lives of other people. To do so in the mundane world is wrong. To do so with the Power is called black magick. In either case, it is an infringement on the rights of another person, and there will one day be a reckoning.
Live every moment as if the Higher Power is looking over your shoulder. Guess what? It is!
Respect the Truth, for it is one of the most sacred gifts of the Divine. Speak nothing but the Truth, for to practice deceit is to become deceit itself.
No one path to the Divine is the right path for everybody. No one person, no one religion, has a copyright on truth. To think otherwise leads to fanaticism, persecution, and the Moral Majority.
For every action there is a reaction. Whatever you send out comes back to you. If you are cruel, you will receive cruelty in turn. If you use magick for evil or negative purposes, that spiritual slime will come back to haunt you.
We are all one. Everything and everyone is interconnected. Whatever you do affects not only yourself, but everyone around you. The chain-reaction effect makes it so that our actions may potentially affect the whole world.
The strongest magick of all is Love. The act of Love, and the positive acts motivated by Love, are the most beautiful and creative acts mankind has ever performed. Try to act always out of Love.
Never allow the mind to become closed. Stagnant water turns foul.
A truly wise person does not share the mysteries with a fool. It is a waste of breath, and a true fool may grow to resent the wisdom of your words.
Teach only what you know, to the best of your ability, to those who wish it, but do not attempt to teach what you yourself do not know.
A Witch does not reveal the identity of another Witch. To do so might invite discrimination upon that person, and it is not your business to speak of.
We are not little gods and goddesses. We need not expect to be perfect (although we should always try), or be too hard on ourselves should we fail. For the same reason, we should not act like a little goddess or god, or expect to be treated as one.
Do not steal what belongs to another. This means material items, as well as words, credit for words and deeds, and other creations of person.
Never use a magickal system or application that you do not completely understand. Don’t mess with something if you don’t know what the consequences will be, especially when magick is involved.
Do not charge for the use of any psychic talent. Our psychic abilities are gifts from Divinity to be used to help others, not as an employment.
Thoughts are real things, but invisible. If you are not careful, negative thoughts can create quite an ugly monster that you might not see until too late.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will not be angry.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
