The Smash Brothers World Championship

That's right, folks: The Posse created, maintains, and actively circulates three titles:
-The Smash Brothers World Championship
-The Smash Brothers U.S. Championship
-The Smash Brothers Team Championships

Specific rules and regulations exist for each championship - rules and regulations created by myself, but *generally* agreed upon by all actively participating members of the championship committee, which consists of whomever would be the most in my favor to sit on the committee at any given time.

Here's how it works: I held the Smash Brothers World Championship Tournament at my house over the summer, in which Peter, Will, Logan, Captain, Max, Blake and I participated. After a grueling tournament, it FINALLY came down to the final four: Captain, Logan, Blake, and myself. I beat Captain and Logan beat Blake, and then Logan NARROWLY squeaked by me to become the first EVER Smash Brothers World Champion. On that same day, we created the Team Championship: Max and I fought Captain and Blake, and Captain and Blake won to become the first ever Team Champions.

Now, after about six months of the title changing ownership, it became apparent that Blake, Peter, and Max stood little chance of actually ever winning the World Championship, so two changes were made: first, a so-called "Light-Heavyweight" division was created, from which Logan, Jon, Captain, and myself - the four World Championship contenders - would be excluded. The U.S. Championship was instated and ruled to be passed from person to person following the same rules as the World Championship, except that the four aforementioned champions would be excluded from participation in such title matches.

The second change made in the creation of the "Light" division was that at least one member of the Team Champions MUST be a "Light" contender. Blake and Captain - the first ever Team Champions - lost their title to Jon and I, and simply put, the ONLY team capable of beating Jon and myself was Logan and Captain; the only team capable of beating Logan and Captain was Jon and myself, and thus a vicious circle was created. To promote interaction between the title divisions, therefore, the new rule was put into effect. Conveniently, Captain and Blake became the first ever NEW-age Team Champions, so the reigns of Jon and I and of Logan and Captain were simply canceled out of history; therefore, the only two people who have ever OFFICIALLY held the Team Championships are Captain and Blake.

Championship Matches

In order to issue a challenge to a champion, at least one witness must be present. The witness MUST BE SMASH BROTHERS LITERATE. That means, someone who can stand a chance against a couple low-level computers; therefore, girls generally do NOT count as witnesses. A witness is NOT required in order to challenge for the Team Championships, only for the U.S. and World Championships.

The rules for the championship match are relatively simple: the champion chooses the type of match and the level. The following are specific regulations:
-All timed matches must last a minimum of two minutes and maximum of fifteen minutes
-All stock matches must involve a stock of at least two lives
-Stock matches must have a set time limit of no longer than fifteen minutes
-The damage ratio may NOT be changed
-The items MUST BE ON, at MEDIUM frequency
-Handicaps may not be used
If the champion is defending his title against multiple opponents in a tournament setting, the damage ratio rule is overruled, and the damage ratio may be adjusted to affect the matches of a tournament. This is because Special Melees are un-usable in game-set tournaments, so Super-Sudden Death or Giant Melee tournaments are impossible to hold.

Furthermore, MOST items must remain ON. This way, a sense of randomness - one of the primary factors in Smash Brothers matches - stays constant, and the champion must display the ability to win even with that random factor on. However, there are SOME items which the champion may choose to turn on or off, which include:
-Hammer
-Star Man
-Food
-Maxim Tomato
-Heart Container
-Poison Mushroom
These items are interchangeable, since they can instantly make or break a match. Further revisions may be made to the list in the future.

And finally, Special Melees MAY be used, EXCEPT for:
-Camera Mode
-Single-Button Melee
Other than that, any special melee may be used. I once actually lost the championship to Captain in a Stamina match, which was over in probably less than a minute. Then again, I also successfully defended my title once against Jon AND Captain at ONCE in a Super-Sudden Death Match, so it's all good ^^

#1 Contendership Matches

If the champion is challenged by more than one contender at once, he may choose to defend against all contenders simultaneously. IF, however, he chooses to defend in a one-on-one situation, the two challengers must fight each other in a #1 contendership match. #1 contendership matches are also sometimes necessary due to controller restrictions if there are only 2-3 controllers present.

Like in a title match, the champion chooses the type of match and the level at which the contenders must fight. Say two people challenge the champion; they must face each other in a match in which the champion chooses the type of match and the level (this is VITAL). However, some limitations are different, such as:
-All timed matches must last a minimum of two minutes and a maximum of six minutes
-Stock matches must have a set time limit of no longer than eight minutes
-ALL items remain on (on a medium occurrence rate) EXCEPT FOR Food and Poison Mushrooms
Other than those slight variations on the rules, everything remains the same.

IF the champion is challenged by more than three people, he may place his contenders in a tournament for #1 contendership. If this is the case, then all the rules remain the same (including the damage ratio rule). If people are missing from the tournament, then computers may be substituted for humans, but ONLY UP TO FOUR COMPUTERS may be used in any tournament for any reason, to avoid computers monopolizing and winning tournaments. The rules are quite flexible if the champion is defending his title IN a tournament, but they must adhere to the rules set on this page if the champion is merely facing the winner of a tournament (tournaments where "the winner faces me" are called "K-Tournaments").
