- Christina Aguilera, (self-titled album) - RCA Records.... I know I've said it before, but I think she's an awesome performer and it shows through on her first album. Although she's another ex-mousketeer to join the music world, she stays away from *N Sync's sweetness, and Britney Spears' "bubblegummish" styles to form a truly superior sound. This is a CD you should definitely check out.
- *N SYNC - RCA Records....For those of you who know me, you are aware of my love for this group even though I often try to hide it. So to write this review I went back to the first time I listened to the CD. *N Sync's CD is an all around great CD. Songs like "Here We Go", "I Want You Back", and "Tearin' Up My Heart" have infectious dance beats while "I Drive Myself Crazy" and others have heart-felt lyrics and a lot of soul. Their looks are a plus too :) This CD is really a must have.
- Britney Spears, ...Baby, One More Time - JIVE Records.....Britney Spears is pretty much a household name these days, but, in my opinion, her CD isn't quite worth the hype. Her CD features a few good songs with good dance beats, but they are quite "bubble-gummish". And with the exception of a song which I like called "Sometimes", she seems to lack the soul or expression or something to sing a really good, heart-felt slow song. Overall, Britney could've used some more vocal training. Not to mention that she's not the greatest role model if you get what I mean, but we won't get into that.
- Backstreet Boys,Millenium - JIVE Records.... I must say that I am a closet fan of the Backstreet Boys, but I will come out and say that this is a great CD. Considering the obvious success of their first album, this is a great follow-up. It includes the "smash hit" "I Want it That Way" and their upcoming single "Larger Than Life" which is an awesome song to dance to. Also, for this CD the boys have writtne some songs themselves including "The Perfect Fan" which Brian Littrell wrote for his mom - how sweet -lol- Make sure to check this one out.
- Ricky Martin (self-titled album) - Columbia Records....EVERYONE knows and many adore Ricky Martin. It is true that he is an incredible performer. It is true that his singles have been hits. But sometimes the truth hurts and it is also true to me that his CD is just OK. Sure, "Livin' La Vida Loca" will probably be around and played for a long time, but except for his singles that you hear on the radio such as the before mentioned "LLVL", "The Cup of Life", and "She's All I Ever Had" his other songs just rate in the middle of the scale. So, to sum things up, I love him as much as the next person, but over-all his CD get's a luke-warm review from me.
