With this truly flavorful debut, Nelly Furtado demands attention with this truly original and eclectic album. With her first hit, the girl freedom anthem "I'm Like A Bird", Nelly showcases her vocal and song writing ability, but the rest of the CD displays an outstanding collection songs that a young generation can really relate to. Sultry "Party" sets a mood unlike any other, and the upbeat "Hey Man" and "Trynna Find A Way" are great as well. The upcoming single "Turn Off The Light" is gripping and original, and who can forget the tune "I Will Make You Cry". But this album isn't straight up pop. It has sounds that are both urband and dance, with a DJ scratching in some of the songs, and mixed up tunes with lots of influences rolled into one. Nelly's portugese roots shine through in the song "Scared Of You" with an acoustic nature. The CD has great guitar hooks, wonderful flavor, and fits the soundtrack of the young generations' lives.
