INCUBUS
Continuing in the proud tradition of white boys who got the funk real, real bad, Southern California quintet Incubus expand the mosh pit created by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Faith No More with a full-time DJ, Jamiroquai-inspired didgeridoo-looping and singer Brandon Boyd's powerful yet vulnerable Tarzan-like sincerity. They were formed in a garage in California during the 90's. But this is forward thinking funk that cares just as much in the message as in having some booty-shakin' fun. 1997 's S.C.I.E.N.C.E. sounded the howl to tribal individualism that matured into a reassuring dedication to song evident in 1999's Make Yourself. Top 40 champions of experimentation - musical, chemical and emotional - Incubus are having a blast developing what James, George, and Bootsy first let out of the bag. (courtesy of getmusic.com
