Blink 182
Music Feature of the Week- 8/22/99

What can I say? I love these boys!! And not because in their most recent video they run naked through the streets, but their music really kicks. Here's a bio from MTV news.

"Life is good for the fun-time boys of Blink-182. Since the June release of the San Diego trio's new album, "Enema of the State," Blink-182 has watched its fourth skate-punk manifesto do a commercial 900 (see Tony Hawk at ESPN's 1999 Summer X Games), crossing the platinum sales mark at the same time Blink was becoming The Act to see at this past year's Warped Tour. While the success of "Enema of the State" caught many industry pundits off guard, Blink-182 has actually been steadily building its core fan base over the last few years, touring relentlessly and releasing its three previous albums in a little over a four year stretch -- with the group's last record, 1997's "Dude Ranch," quietly selling some 500,000 copies. But with Blink-182's recent hit single and video for "What's My Age Again," a clip which glamorizes the fine art of streaking and hanging out with adult film stars, it's little wonder which newfound chart-topping band is having the most fun these days. Right before Warped wound down, bassist Mark Hoppus, guitarist Tom DeLonge, and drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182 sat down with the MTV Radio Network's Meredith Gottlieb and talked about the band's Menudo-like turnover, selling out, and its plans for an X-rated version of a Robert Louis Stevenson classic. So kick back, grease up your skateboard wheels, and get naked if you want to, 'cause that's the kind of freedom of expression that Blink-182 is fighting the power for."
