LadyGodiva, The Real Lady

Hi all ...Welcome to my site where you can learn a little about the legend of LadyGodiva and me and why I chose the nickname.

LadyGodiva

Lady Godiva was a noblewoman living in Coventry, England in the 11th century. Her husband Leofric, The Earl of Mercia refused to lower the taxes of the townspeople. Lady Godiva begged him to ease their plight and he agreed providing she would ride naked upon her horse through the market square of town. To his surprise, she agreed and the townspeople closed their doors and windows. Legend has it that "Peeping Tom" witnessed her famous ride and was immediately struck blind...hence the 1st "Peeping Tom". Lady Godiva's selfless act was celebrated in the streets of Coventry centuries after her courageous ride.
