I am Karla, otherwise known as lady k. I have not really been online for very long, since Spring 1998. However I do actively participate in several elists. I have been into the music I listen to since I was 13. When I was 10 I wanted to be a "punk rocker" hee! I wanted a big blue mohawk when I grew up. (Needless to say that I started out listening to punk and do still on occasion when the mood strikes me.) I know that some people would never say I'm a goth, who cares!?! I rarely even call myself a goth, in fact I pretty much refer to myself as old school. So don't bitch at me your thoughts of which genre of labels you think I am because if all you can do is label people then your opinion doesn't really count, you're just a judgemental idiot with nothing better to do with your time. Well, okay, your opinion does count, as everyone's does, I just get tired of the goth or not a goth debate...there are so many wonderful people out there...whether or not they describe themselves or others describe themselves as well anything...does the argument really matter? Okay, now that is said let me get on with telling you what *I* am about, because a person is always more than just their musical preferences and the style of clothes they wear.
I am a deeply spiritual person and celebrate the Wiccan religion and pretty much consider myself a kitchen witch - which means that I celebrate even the most common meal as a spiritual ritual. I am not a circle witch, I use herbs and essential oils to make my own bath salts, incense, satchets and etc...and I concentrate a lot of spiritual energy in the making of meals, relaxation items (eg. bath salts) and magickal tools (eg. sachets, incense). You can check out my Wicca/Witchy pages at Tides. I feel drawn to the Pacific Ocean and will be a mermaid in my next life. (I'm native Southern Californian and in essence grew up on the beach, which explains that.) I live in Chicago now and have fallen in love with this city, though I will always consider L.A. my home. I miss the beach and watching the dolphins play at Topanga Canyon, right off of Pacific Coast Highway. I highly recommend doing that to anyone who is visiting L.A., it's fascinating to watch them jump and play just off the shore (infinately more entertaining than seeing them "do tricks" at your local Sea World or Aquarium.) Chicago is great though. There's a lot to actually do here, and after awhile the winters aren't so bad. : ) I'm an office manager for a small firm, I like my job, though I sometimes miss being able to go out on Tuesday nights - the local goth night. Getting up early is a chore, though one does what one must to earn a living. I have a History & Women's Studies degree and would eventually like to go to grad school to study archival curating. Though school is so expensive anymore that it is hard to support yourself and pay tuition. I think that if Americans were really concerned about the education their young were receiving they'd make school less expensive, but that's just another example on how the Republicans stifle this country. Yes, surprisingly, I do concern myself with politics. But then maybe that isn't surprising judging from what my degree is in. Anyway, that's all I'm writing for now.
