The History of Rock & Roll

And Its Major Influence On Our Youth

In the mid 50's- early 60's, called Early Rock the message of this music seemed to be harmless and the lyrics promoted "Good Times". Also it promoted dancing the new dance fads. Teen idols were worshipped by teenage girls and boys. They were all trying to be cool. This stage was being set for rebellion by the Greaser image. The music was a blend of big bands with a powerful dance, rhythem, blues, tempos and catchy melodies. This created a happy days atmosphere. Then Motown Music and Folk Music came on the scene.This was in early 60's on thru the late 60's. This type of music introduced a stronger rebellion theme which was to be the thread through all future rock music. It was promoting free sex, drugs and rebellion:presenting theme as harmless fun. Along with this also came false religions. Folk groups promoted anti-establlisment attitudes and apperances. The music its self hardened the American music by taking out the swing beat and putting in a more upbeat tempo. In the 70's came what they called Acid or Hard Rock. It took the scene by having hugh rock concerts, promoting free sex, open drug use and alcohol use. People had a total do-your-own-thing-attitude. These lyrics taught rebellion, no morals,no responsibilities and drugs became hand in hand with the rock music.Stage violence began. There was more focus on false religions. More volume, more violence,it became a dominant force of the songs. This was also the time frame when groups started destroying there equipment on stage.

Then came Heavy Metal Music, bringing the message of sex, no morality and drug abuse. The lyrics openly promoted violence,and homosexuality. Satanic messages are hidden camouflaged by backward masking. The beat to this music and the volume increased. The beat or pulse of the music hypnotizes listeners as they were fed evil lyrics. Performers openly admit sexual perversion and act it out on stage From the 80's to now we have more satan rock. The message is violence supreme. satan no longer hiding his motives. Lyrics denounce christanity presenting the devil as the answer. Sex, drugs and alchohol was and is used more now than ever. Suicide was even being promoted.If you ever pay attention to some of the garbage on t.v., it also promotes videos upholding the devil. The music has become more violent, loud, abrasive and promotes a robot type sound. Some of this music has become the single most powerful tool by which the devil communicates his evil messages to our youth.

This is only a little history about this music and how it is influencing the minds of our youth. The suicide rate is up and we need to remember that drug abuse is a slow form of suicide and a desperate cry for help. The average life span of a rock singer is about 42 years old. Many will miss the opportunity to know where real life lies. But even though we only talked a little about rock music, we can see the rise of drugs, alcohol, sex and suicide sweeping across our nation, we also know that youth sometimes get into the rock music, and it becomes a very important part of their life.

Youth are under alot of pressure. Will we as christains make a difference in their life or simply walk away.Younge person listen to me: Your answers in life are not found in drugs, alcohol, sex or rock music.You can begin your life anew by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. JESUS died for you on a cross called Calvary and had you been the only one around, he still would have went to that cross just for you. He died so that you might have life and have it more abundantley. The bible says: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God-romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord-Romans 6:23 That if thou shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For whosoever call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved Romans 10:9-13

I challenge you, whoever you are - to pray a simple prayer and invite Jesus into your life.......
