Message for Parents of Today's Youth

We are living in a society today that uses drugs, in astonishing quanaties. Around 67% high school students drink reguliarly.(drinking while driving is there most cause for death) 25% + high school students use marijuana on regular base. Everyday there is a growing number of all ages of students drinking and using drugs. There is a variety of drugs sweeping our world, and it seens very easy to get into our kids hands.

Americans that value there freedom so much above all else are allowing themselves to become a slave to a drug culture.Drug use is becoming more to be considered fine are okay.

Parents these are , our kids that we love. What can we do?Take a miniute and ask yourself a question....Are there any drug free schools in America? Or is the problem growing daily, and the ages even becoming younger? Parents its easy for kids to get their hands on drugs, and most of the time, they are getting it from family, friends and even some parents.......Not SOME SHADY BACK STREET DRUG PUSHER.

Drug abuse is both a slow form of suicide and a desperate cry for help......In being around a drug culture society and being a Youth Minister I have seen alot and heard alot. This is a sad situation, but we know there is hope through Jesus for anyone with this problem.

We can look for possiable warning signs, like these 4:
  • Change in friends
  • Change in mood
  • Hard rock music
  • Detaching from others

It has been said that many people use drugs to escape from problems of life. Users of such drugs exchange reality for a dreamy feeling or translike state of mind. Many use hard drugs such as herion and cocaine. Some take large quanities of various drugs in pill form.

It is also well known that drug use is linked with crime and the moral breakdown of our society. Drug sales are a major source of income for organized crime. Many drug addicts steal to support their habits, some turn to prostution. Families are torn apart when a member becomes a addict.

Can your kids come to you as a parent and talk there problems out with you? Many that I have worked with down through the years said they couldn't talk to their parents. Let's make ourselfes available to our kids. We as parents are responsiable to our kids, to let them know that we love them and we are there for them.

There is alot of peer pressure on our kids. We as parents need to deal with our kids honestly and with respect. We can start by teaching our kids values that can't be corrupted by anyone else or anything. Teach them the most important thing in life: Jesus Christ died for them, and that He loves them and wants to save them and give them life eternal.

Parents think about it......Do you want your kids to grow up like you? And follow the example you are giving them to follow? See we are their role models. Are we setting a good example, a Godly example? There is no source of freedom but through Jesus. Are we being the parents Jesus would have us to be?

Are you living a clean and Holy life that God is pleased with. Do you know you are saved? The bible says, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.-Romans 3:23. If your not saved won't you please tell God you are sorry, and ask Him to forgive you, tell Him you are done with sin, and want Him to come into your life, that your life might be a good influence for your kids as well as other kids that might need you. Come let Him forgive you of your sins, He will if you ask.Friend this is all real, and as we start a brand new year, we can also start a brand new life. Church membership can't save you, baptism can't save you, doing good deeds or even shaking a preachers hand each Sunday. It takes the blood of Jesus. Why not give Jesus your heart, right now wherever you are.......Please help our kids realize drugs is not the answer, our only hope is found in Jesus. Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead for me. Right now by faith I invite Him to come into my life. Thank You for the gift of eternal life. In Jesus Name Amen
