The Master Servant

If someone was to ask you the question, What is a master, how would you respond?We could answer by saying, someone with control-or someone who has charge over-or someone given the title of respect. Now how would you define servant?

I would answer by saying someone who serves someone else or takes care of them. Christ's Last Living Command was Love......

Today I would like for you to read John 13........and focus on verses 1-20. The last supper took place on a Thursday Night and its theme was love. Jesus the master, demonstrated that theme of love by personally washing the feet of the disciples. If you will remember Peter objected-but Jesus insisted.This act is symbolic of spiritual cleansing as well as a model of the attitude believers are to adopt toward one another. Can we pattern our life after the master and show forth love by serving others?

I am going to ask a few questions and you can just answer them to your self.

1-What do you suppose the atmosphere was at the supper that night?

2-What range of feelings did Jesus have for his disciples?

3-How did Jesus show His love for his friends?

4-What was Peters reaction to being served by Jesus?

5-Why was it difficult for Peter to accept Jesus service?

6-What long term impact do you think Jesus actions had on the disciples?

7-What are some of the rewards of serving others?

8- Do we really love others as we should?

Not only was Jesus the master but at times he was a servant, who served others alot and took care of them. We all have needs in our life. We can never out give God- lets begin today to serve others there is people that is right around us who feel alone and lost even in a room full of people. Jesus the Master- humbled himself and served others......to be like him we too need to humble ourself, and serve others.

Lord, I ask that today you would put a desire in our hearts to serve others.In serving others Lord we spread love. Lord we are the only bible some ever read, help us Lord that we would walk the walk and talk the talk so that your light shines so bright in us.Lord give us a burden for a lost world that needs you.Help us to become a Masters Servant.Lord thank you for loving us so much.Today walk beside us and guide us where you would have us go.Forgive us Lord of our sins, in Jesus precious holy name I pray Amen
