Are You Ready When They Come?
Are you ready to minister to the needs of those who walk through your church doors, or those that God places in your path? Are you ready for that troubled teenager, who is reaching out for answers, that teenager that society has pushed aside as a no good? Are you ready for that drug addict, alcholic who needs love? Are you ready for that one who is sick and needs healing within their body, for that one who is disabled or mentally disturbed......Are you ready when they come?
For many, churches or christains are who these look to for help and acceptence. Though, sad to say, many churches and many christains rather turn them away. They are seeking help.....will we to turn them away? Is this what Jesus would do? It is our responsibility to reach out and minister to the needs of others. It's our job to bear the burden, help carry the load......Are We Ready, When They Come?
Lets see what Gods word says about our responsibility. I will be using scriptures from God's Promises and The Message.
**And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15 We are told to preach the gospel to everyone.
**Let me tell you why you are here. You are here to be the salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You've lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. Here's another way to put it. You're here to be a light bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I am going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you on a light stand-SHINE! Keep open house: be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:13-16)
He wants us to let our light shine forth before others that they might see the love of God within us, that they might turn to Jesus.
Are We Ready When They Come?
**I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink.I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes,I was sick and you stopped to visit,I was in prison and you came to me. Then those sheep are going to say, Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you? Then the King will say I'm telling you the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me- you did it to me. Then he will turn to the goats the ones on his left and say Get out, worthless goats! You're good for nothing but the fires of hell. And why? Because.....I was hungry and you gave me no meal, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was homeless and you gave me no bed, I was shivering and you gave me no clothes, sick and in prison, and you never visited. Then those goats are going to say Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or homeless or shivering or sick or in prison and did'nt help? He will answer them, I am telling the solemn truth: whenever you failed to do one of these things to someone who was being overlooked or ignored, that was me-you failed to do it to me.
**Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27)
Are You Ready, When They Come?
**Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgively restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out to those, who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badely decieved. Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Be very sure now, you who have been trained to a self-sufficent majurity, that you enter into a generous common life with those who have trained you, sharing all the good things that you have and experience. (Galations 6:1-6)
We need to look beyond faults and see needs.
**This is how we've come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrifically for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God's love? It dissappears. And you made it dissappear. My dear children, let's not just talk about love: lets practice real love. This is the only way we'll know we're living truly, living in God's reality. It's also the way to shut down debilitating self criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is grerater than our weary hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.
God is telling us to reach out to others and show forth His love and not to merely turn the other way.
Are You Ready,When They Come?
I challenge you, to ask yourself that question. Search your heart. Do What Jesus Would Do.
