Interview with Erik Bradley
- 1. What's it like working in the radio business?
- It's a thrill-one of the only things I've ever wanted for a career. I
- truly love to wake up & come to work every day. I believe
- I have one of the best jobs in the world.
- 2. What do you actually do at B-96?
- Music Director/Assistant Program Director is my 'title', which means I
- select what music we play on B-96, plan the acts
- for the B-Bashes, am the liaison between the station, the music
- industry, and the artists. And, assist in the overall running
- of the radio station. (That is a very general overview of my duties
- but there is no way I could possibly tell you everything
- I do...not enough time!)
- 3. How did you come about working with them (Faze 4)?
- I've long wanted to work with an act because I know I can help in a
- major way. I just took me about 9 years to find the right act.
- 4. Where did you discover Faze 4?
- I didn't actually 'discover' Faze 4. I met Stevie at a club and after
- talking with him, finding out his goals & he finding out mine,
- we decided to pursue the possibilities of me working with his group.
- Things progressed very well & we all decided to form
- a partnership.
- 5. How long have you worked at B-96?
- I started as Music Director at B-96 on October 18, 1993.
(con..)
- 6. How long have you worked there?
- just over 6 years (anniversary date 10/18)
- 7. Did you go to any colleges to get radio broadcasting background before
- you went into the music business?
- Radio Broadcasting curriculum at Gaston College in Dallas, NC...just
- outside of my hometown. My class took a tour
- at the popular station in Charlotte, NC (Kiss 102) & shortly thereafter
- I started working part-time in their research department,
- later, in May 1990, worked my way up to the Music Director (& that was
- 2 years of busin' my butt for very little $$--but it was totally worth it!)
- 8. If so, what college?
- **see #7**
- 9. How old were you when you started to work there?
- late October 1988--I was 18. I became Music Director at Kiss 102 in
- May 1990 at the age of 20.
- 10. What was it like playing basketball with *NSYNC? What team were you on?
- It was an absolute blast, even though I didn't play much more than 5
- minutes. A great experience that I won't soon
- forget. There were some amazing people (who also happen to be talented
- athletes or musicians) there in addition
- to the *NSYNC boys. Brian McKnight & Mase were also on our team & both
- of them can PLAY! I was on the
- "Knights" (with Justin Timberlake & Joey Fatone). The other team was
- called the "Daze".
