  The retiarius was a light gladiator, who only fought with the trident and net, and his only armor was the Galerus.  The galerus was an oversized shoulder piece made of bronze, and the leather guard that was wrapped around his arm.  It protected the entire left shoulder, and  arm, and was embossed with many nautical pictures, such as crabs, anchors, and tridents.  The galerus was not incredibly effective against the many heavy gladiators that the retiarius was paired against, but at least it was something.  The hand guard attached to this galerus, is remarkable similar to a cestus, though it is not bladed.
  The galerus is only seen within the walls of the Colosseum in Iridine.  Designed as protection for light gladiator boughts, the galerus has seen use with many different types of gladiators, including the cestus, and trident.  As it is gladiator armor, it is not sold by an dealer within the city.  Those wishing to own one, must either join with a gladiator troop, or order one from an armourer.
