In groups of 4, create your own radio show, like the "I-O-D-E-N-T" show on "Annie".
Activities:
1.
Decide on a sponsor for your radio show. A sponsor is someone, a
company or
product, which pays for your show. Have you ever seen a commercial
on TV?
Those commercials pay for your favorite shows, as do the advertisements
you see
in your favorite magazines!
2.
If the toothpaste "IODENT" sponsored the radio show we saw on "Annie",
then
describe how the radio "promoted" the product in a way that made people
want
to buy it.
3. Write a jingle or poem about your product.
4.
Create a poster for your product. Draw a picture, list at least 2 facts
and 2 opinions,
and write at least 2 stores where you could buy your products. When
your group
does the "Radio Show", display the posters in the background.
5.
Analyze at least 2 ads in magazines from your classroom magazine
collection.
a. What is the product being advertised in this ad?
b. Does this ad make you want to buy the product?
c. Name something about the ad that you do not like or understand.
6.
Fold a paper into 4 sections:
a. draw an "ear" for the hearing section.
b. draw a "mouth" for the talking section.
c. draw an "eye" for the seeing section.
d. draw a "nose" for the smelling section.
Now,
name at least 2 forms of communication that goes best in each section!
Draw
a
picture for each one.
