BLOODLINES
Chapter 1
The rain pinged off the glass of Illusion as it hit, the water running down as if in streams, then pooled into a small collection on the windowsill. It began to pour off of the sill to run on the ground, only to keep going through the streets until it found a drain to go down into. It was nighttime, and Iori Yagami had been waiting for 2 hours now. Taking a deep pull from his cigarette, Iori held his breath, then slowly exhaled as the smoke curled up into his face and through his trademark red hair.
Elizabeth, the waitress at Illusion sighed to herself as she watched the figure sit alone at his customary table. It had been nearly a year later since the entire incident with the Hong Kong Triad had gone over in the news. She had heard about it through the owner of the bar, King. King had personal interest in the matter, but because she knew both Leona and Iori. Elizabeth herself had only spoken to Iori only to take his order. How she wished that she had been able to talk more to him. Sadly, it was too late as he was clearly more interested in the military commander, Leona Heidern. She looked wistfully toward his direction one more time before deciding that the winglasses she held needed to be cleaned.
Unbeknownst to Elizabeth, Iori was watching a dark figure across the street who had been standing there for the entire time while Iori was at Illusion. He knew that whoever it was was watching him. He cared very little, however, because the person had not done a single thing to him. It mattered not.
The door opened up allowing a cool breeze to blow into the bar. Everyone looked up to see who the newcomer was, then resumed their own business. Everyone, that is, except for Iori. He knew very well who it was. She person, clad in a long trenchcoat walked toward Iori's table, nodding to King as they passed by her. King nodded back, then resumed her work. The person walked to Iori's table and removed their coat. The blue hair was striking enough, but the strong, yet well defined frame was even more so. Iori looked up to match eyes with Leona Heidern.
Leona shook off her coat and sat across from Iori. He was angry, she knew. He hated to be kept waiting, especially if it was a long time. Leona did not say a word as she whispered her order to the waitress, who was walking by to take orders. She looked at Iori for a moment, then reached into her pocket and pulled out an envelope. Sliding it across to Iori, she watched as he reached and opened it with one deft movement, the read the enclosed letter.
Iori folded the letter back up, then nodding to Leona, he took another drag from his cigarette, then crushed it out on the ashtray. Leona took a sip from her drink and looked into Iori's eyes. She never would have thought that she would be in any sort of a relationship during her life, let alone one with this man. Reputed to be one of the best, but deadliest fighters in the world. Just a year ago, he had almost (with her help of course) single-handedly destroyed the Hong Kong triad.
The two had been involved for almost a year now. Ever since they had been together, the two couldn't seem to spend enough time with each other. Leona was always having to go off on some mission, while Iori...well...Iori just stayed in England. Leona wasn't certain what it was about England that he found so appealing, but it may be that nobody really knew he was there outside of a select few people. He preferred it that way.
Iori and Leona stood up together an hour later, Iori paid the bill and the couple walked out hand in hand. The women all sighed and looked enviously at Leona, who had her head on Iori's shoulder as they walked while the men at the bar all glared at Iori with drunken stares.
By now, the rain had stopped falling, and the mysterious figure who had been watching Iori had disappeared again. He paid it no mind as he walked with Leona. They were 20 feet away from the door to Illusion when the door exploded and a man stumbled through. Looking in the couple's direction, he pointed and shouted out "Yagami!!!!"
Iori turned slowly to face his caller and saw him staring eye to eye with Yashiro Nanakase. Yashiro's partners were behind him, Chris and Shermie. Iori shook his head as he faced the trio. Yes, his band had beaten CYS many times, but he was not responsible. After all, it wasn't his fault that CYS didn't sound as good as his band did.
Yashiro wavered back and forth as he glared at Yagami, his eyes flaring at him. "You...bashturd...why can't you jusht die?!" and with that, he launched himself at Iori.
