MY SILK MAUVE DINNER GOWN

The Mauve Tea Gown was one that I found interesting. I designed this gown for the Titanic era. I could see this gown being worn by someone onboard the Titanic for a midafternoon tea.

The gown is fashioned from pink satin for the undergown. The overgown is made from a flower enhanced delicate silk organza. The upper bodice of the front of the gown is overlayed with ivory lace and accented with a half inch mauve lace around the edging. The same mauve lace is used for accenting the edges of the overgown skirt as well as the neckline.

The side of the gown is pulled up in a gather fashion. Accenting the top of the gather is roses made from deep lavender wire ribbon. The ribbon was twisted into the shape of roses then added on. Along with the flowers are leaves also made with green wire satin ribbon. There are small rainbow lavender berries hanging from twisted ribbon stems.

The gown also has a sash waist belt that ties on the side in a bow. This is also accented at the waistline with the lavender ribbon flowers and leaves.

A fashionable hat was made to match this gown. It is a simple straw hat, using the mauve flower silk organza for the band. Roses were made in the same fashion as those on the gown. These flowers were added to the right side of the hat.

A matching handbag was also made for this gown. It was made from the pink satin, then overlayed with the mauve silk organza. It has a draw string to close.

I could see this beautiful gown worn by someone on the Titanic especially for teatime.
