Obsolete

By: Nexis

Are you obsolete? This is a very important question today. No, I'm not talking about the ever-struggling dilemma of whether or not machines will take over the world. I am talking about the fact that in today's society, entertainment and functionality are now becoming one. This brings me to my question, are you entertaining enough?

It takes so much to be entertained these days. I myself find it hard to keep from getting bored. We are now in the age where people are starting to realize that places like amusement parks are nothing more than prisons we pay to get into. They heard us in and keep us fenced until someone decides this isn't fun anymore. People stand in long lines just to get a few minutes of entertainment. Is this really all were capable of?

It's my belief that sooner of later people will start to look for things that aren't made by huge companies. We will start to look for things that were created for the purpose of consumer use, not to compete with other products. We crave things that are pure in their creation and fun that wasn't created for the sole purpose of making some people rich. Society will turn toward more useful developments and strain to find the most value.

While this sounds good in theory, it will not happen in real life. People will never find such things. Most things that have been created on this earth were made to make other people rich. People will then realize this and turn toward the athletic entertainment. New sports that were never even thought of will arise from nowhere. Unfortunately it might also begin to show our true aggressive and violent side. Non the less our search will end up here, in the most passionate of sports that pit human against human, not just for the entertainment and enjoyment of other people, but for survival.

My only question is where will we go next. After there is nothing left to make us feel happy and forget about our problems what will we come up with? What hideous and gruesome fate awaits us in the end?
