Change

By Miranda Ridgeway

Change is life. Your life could change in a heartbeat, an instant, in one breath, or one word. One bad decision can change your life forever. It can take you to hell and back, or to another consciousness. When you think back to the life you had just a few days, or even minutes, ago, it seems so normal, so safe and carefree. Now there is no freedom or privacy. Violation has taken place; it has taken an enormous toll on your life, and now it controls you. The sad sickening feeling has arisen once more in the pit of your stomach and in the depth of your heart. All you have is memories of when life was so safe, simple, and carefree. Memories of life when there were few worries. Now you have to watch every breath you take. You hold back the tears of sadness, pain, heartbreak, and reality, because you know someone is watching every move you make. No one is there for you anymore; no one is on your side. All you have to comfort the desperate never-ending sobs is yourself alone. Your mind can tell yourself to face reality with no pain, but you can't. So you run from it, trying not to think of the consequences. You go on, and brush aside those pitiful tears of change.
