It was those words that came to my head that night It was those words that I painted on the street with hopes that someone would keep them in mind It was those words spoken at the funeral service that brought sobs to my heart It was those words that made me realize 'Yes, she's really gone'
Katherine Ada Wells, a student at Lexington High, lost her life just weeks before beginning her senior year her last year of high school. We're all moving on with our lives, but the pain is still there. You can still see that bit of emptiness and wonder of where she is in everyone's eyes. What happened? Where did she go? Did she know that people loved her?
One of my biggest fears in life now is not that of losing a friend (because I know that they would go to a better place and that I would see them again), but losing a friend without them knowing that I love them. Life is too short, but we all know that if we don't take the time to show our friends how we feel, we will greatly regret it in the end.
I wasn't best friends with Kathi we certainly had our differences. But I never hated her. I never thought the day would come when I wouldn't see her drive by and wave anymore. I never told her I was sorry and now it's too late.
I guess what I want people to realize is that your friends need to know what you feel about them. They need to know that they're special to you, and that they mean the world to you. Don't wait until tomorrow to tell them "Tell Your Friends You Love Them You Never Know" when it may be too late.
I Love You.
