I wake up in the morning to the sound of my alarm,
Only to find myself resetting it and collapsing again.
When I finally rise, I stumble lazily to my closet,
Picking up the most comfortable outfit out of my laundry
Basket of clothes that I washed over the weekend but failed
To put away. Who cares what it looks like? I'm too tired.
I continue getting ready for school, which takes approximately
Ten minutes because I'm still half asleep and my looks really
Don't matter to me at the moment.
I walk to school, slowly, and dreading every step closer to the
Brain torturing factory (otherwise known as school).
I finally arrive after the two block walk, which felt like a
Fifty-mile hike.
I dump my books in my locker and journey upstairs to my
Crew of fellow bed-heads. There I flop to the floor, consciously
Sleeping and not taking in anything that anyone mutters.
During the day, I attempt to pay attention – thank God we
Don't have a test today! Really, though, all I can think about
Is snuggling up in my bed and sleeping for a week. I'll keep
Dreaming…
After school, I walk home, still mildly asleep, but more refreshed
Now that I'm away from that place.
I get home, fall onto the couch with a Pepsi and some chips,
Flip on the t.v. and relax until I'm absolutely forced to move by
My parents calling me a "lazy bum".
Day by day, I'll gain more energy – but then on Monday when I
Get up to go back to school… Well, it'll be a "Typical Monday".
