Coming to a Stage Near You

Scarlett Windsor

Well theatergoers, it's time for the drama and musical departments to present to you, the musical, "Guys and Dolls" on March 19 and 20, 1999. The comedic romp takes place on the seedy streets of 1940s New York City, where an earnest missionary hopes to "convert Broadway all by herself" saving the souls of the gamblers that frequent Broadway. It also features a gambling promoter named Nathan Detroit who tries in vain to find a place for his floating crap game, and keep his fiance of fourteen years, a show girl named Adelaide, and a nosey police lieutenant in the dark about his illegal activity. The gamblers and the "mission doll" meet face to face when a crazy bet is made between Nathan and Sky Masterson, one of the highest rollers of them all. Sky takes a sucker bet that he will take the missionary with him on a trip to Havana. Does the doll go with him to Havana? Do Adelaide and Nathan find married bliss? You'll have to attend the show to find out. But whatever the outcome you will be most certainly treated to a few hours of great acting, music, and dancing. Anyone interested in supporting the Lexington High School music and drama departments should make seeing this musical a priority.
