Jenna's Hanson Encounter

A true story

I went to California for my summer vacation. We were having a blast, but we barely ran into anyone famous recognizable to us,except that the week before ,we ran into Michael Rosenbaum who plays Jack in the TV show "Zoe , Duncan, Jack and Jane". He was very sweet and posed for a picture with me.

This past week we met up with my cousin who lives in the area and we decided to go to the Jamba Juice shop and drink something healthy instead of the usual Starbucks coffee frappe. I was in desperate need of a bathroom after drinking the gigantic fruit juice and the juice place didn't have one. I decided to walk right next door to the Starbucks to use the bathroom. After comming out of the bathroom, I saw this guy looking at me over his girlfriends' shoulders....I immediately thought "O Wow!! He looks EXACTLY like Isaac Hanson!!" but that just couldn't be...or at least that's what I thought!! I looked past him and noticed Taylor and Zac standing to the right. I could have sworn that I was imagining them, but there was no way! I could never mistake anyone for a Hanson if they weren't. I love them too much. I said hello to Taylor and he introduced himself(as if I didn't know who he was) and shook my hand. He asked me where I'm from and immediately cut himself off by saying "you must be from around here?" Did he not notice the accent that was very distinct to everyone else? I quickly smiled and said" No, I'm from New York!" I must have said it with enthusiasm, because he smiled his usual gorgeous smile that would melt ice on a hot day and said "O, cool!" with his own enthusiasm. Then Ike said "hello" and I replied with a sweet but shy "hi" . I told them that I went to their autograph signing at Coconuts music store in NYC. They seemed to think it was cool that I took such an interest in them and their music. The only words I heard Zac say within those couple of minutes were "hi, im Zac".

I couldn't believe I was sitting in the same Starbucks as Hanson and they were drinking the very same frappes that I would have gotten 10 minutes earlier if I didn't decide on a healthier alternative.

I knew I had to do something, and I definately needed a picture of them...that is if I couldn't get one with them. Zac walked over to the counter by himself to fix his coffee and I figured that that was the best time to ask about my picture with them. I sweetly walked over to him and called his name, after a few seconds I got his attention and said "Is there any way I could take a picture with you guys?" he replied in a snippy, impatient kind of way "we're not really doing that right now, but we can sign an autograph if you want." After getting an attitude from the no longer cute, sweet little Zac that we all knew and loved, I replied with a snippy attitude "I already have your autographs!" Continuing on the same path he said "Sorry". I walked away not only pissed off, but extremely hurt that this kid didn't care enough about a fan to let her take one picture. When my mom saw how upset I was, she walked over to Taylor and Ike and asked them if they could just take one picture. Being the sweethearts that they are, they agreed to it. Taylor's line was "No problem". When Zac realized that his brothers agreed to it without asking him first, he was angry. He decided that he was going to face the opposite way as them to form a huddle. We all knew what Zac was up to. He was trying to talk his brothers out of taking the picture. I couldn't believe how rude he was!! My mother and I stood there amazed at what nerve he had and after the way he had acted, we werent sure that the brothers would still agree to the picture. We were very confused about the whole situation. All that didn't matter anyway, because Taylor kept repeating "It's Cool, It's cool". When we were about to take the picture, Zac decided that he would jump in. My mom said "If you don't want to be in the picture, you don't have to" And he just made a somewhat arrogant face and stood in for the picture. Taylor reached over and put his arm around me, and I could feel my heart beat faster! It was amazing.

I wanted to take a picture of them at Coconuts, but the security wouldn't allow it. They claimed that the parents didn't want to disrespect their privacy. It wasn't fair, but I guess you have to understand such things aabout the issues of privacy...but it's not like the press isn't allowed to take pictures, right?? That's just my opinion.

The day ended in the best possible way, I had Taylor's arm around me and I just took a picture with my ultimately favorite band.

The actual funniest part is that a few days earlier we went to Hollywood where you can create photo's where you and your favorite stars are joined to look like the picture was actually taken together, and I begged my mom to buy the picture. She replied "Wouldn't you rather get a real picture with them?" I replied "Of course I would rather that, but it's not like that would ever happen!".

That day taught me that not only do the best things come when you wait, but the best things also come when they are unexpected. Who would have ever thought that just walking into the bathroom within a certain measure of seconds would have caused me to exchange words and take a picture with my all time favorite group, the one and only HaNsOn!!!
