
Miia Maarit Paani is the author of a collection of poems, Nimeämätöntä Varten, and her work has also appeared in the anthology Runokiertue 98. She lives and writes in Oulu, Finland.
Translator Mirka Pohjanrinne works as a junior assistant at the Department of English in the University of Oulu. She received her M.A. in 1997, and her Master's thesis dealt with the naturalistic conflict between the characters and their environment in Toni Morrison's novel The Bluest Eye. At the moment, she is writing her Ph.D. dissertation on Chicana political poetry, with the symbolic presence of borderlands as its theme.
