The Visitor “Come in.” The voice is loud and bounces off the huge empty room. The room, filled with stacks of books that are the walls. Thousands and hundreds of thousands stacked from floor to ceiling, and the man sitting alone in the room han read them all. The door opens on the far end, and the dim light is over powered by the brightness of the outside. The was hardly ever opened. The man never allowed those outside to disturb him. This was not their place. This was his solitude. The visitor entered and turned on the light. White light as though flouresent, flooded the dark, dusty shelves. The man had to squint his eyes until they adjusted. It had been so long, he thought. The footfalls were soft on the hardwood floor, quiet as though the visitor was a ghost, coming to speak with him. It was no ghost. They knew they were not welcomed in this place. The visitor was something else. It was about time that the visitor came. The man had waited for him, to give him audience, but it wasn’t until now that the visitor came. Why now? What was so special about then. “It’s been awhile.” The man said as the visitor sat in the large well furnished chair beside his own. “So it has.” “Why now?” “Why do you think?” “Have I been forgiven?” “You were never unforgiven, merely lost in your own guilt.” “So you made me swim in it until I drowned.” “Your here now are you not.” “Because I climbed out.” “Yes, I am curious about how.” “Don’ t you know?” “I do. Still I want to here you feel.” “It wass a girl as it always is.” “How did she get to you?” “She was in the wrong place. Whe was so beautiful and pure. I swear she had never commited a sin. I think you must have made a mistake.” “She had killed herself.” “Why?” “Because she was not ready for the world.” “But was she ready for death. Why did you let it happen?” “You know why. The same reason why you were so busy.” “They are marvelous creatures, though.” “Yes they are. marvelous, but yet they spend to much time on their science. They have lost the knowledge of a soul.” “That is why I retired. I could not longer stand those eyes. Those gray, lifeless eyes that would stare at me. lost in their pain.” “But tell me more about this girl.” “Like I said, she was so pure, I could never see how she got there, and when she first came to me, there was still a little sparkle of life in her eyes. They all have it when they first came, but hers was brighter. I can’t believe she killed herself. She had so much life.” The man falls a little into his large seat for a moment. Then sits back straight. “Why did she do it.” “She found the one she had loved, the one she had waited for, was having an affair with her closest friend.” “Then why did she have so much life. Why was it still with her.” “You know the answer. Why do you ask so many questions in which you know the answer. That is unlike you.” “I am no longer me.” “I see that. You no longer care much do you.” “It gets to tiring. It is so easy to get frustrated. “So are you ready to return home?” “Yes, my lord, God.” “Then you know what you must do. Renounce your shadow, and let the fallen angel again rise to the gates of heaven. This is the Origional Version. The Current Version has almost a completely different story.
