The Godfathers of PowerPop, and still my favorite of all time, although only a split-hair behind is... |
Scott Miller is just as much of a genius, and he's a more engaging person. |
they all rock... |

Verbow |

Primal Scream |
The REAL Elvis, and there's no doubt that Declan Patrick Aloysius MacManus is alive. I saw him in 7-Eleven just the other day... |
Joe Jackson |

These guys were one of the most incredible powerpop groups, full of cheerfully shameless bombast and derivativeness. Ya gotta respect that. |
You know, you never know what's gonna happen; just when we thought they were broken up, they reform. And the world's a richer place because of it.
I like to refer to Todd as a semi- flawed genius... the man, when he's on, is untouchable. It's the times that he isn't that keep the journey interesting...
Peter Gabriel |

It's amazing... the former bastard stepchildren of rock have finally gotten belated acclaim, recognition, and probably to their horror, respectability. Not that they don't deserve it, but it doesn't sit with their former image. |
It's fascinating the beauty that can be gleaned from the deepest sadness. It takes the musical masterstrokes of this amazing Scottish songwriter and guitarist to make us aware of that. |
This band started me up the road to musical fanaticism; there's always a place for them in my heart. I mean, hey, they named a rock opera after me. |
Equal parts genius and sloppy, the 'Mats pack more raw emotion in a single song than Mariah Carey could ever hope to in a career. |
Always will be my favorite guitarist. Although Joe's back catalog (and sadly live performance) are a mixed bag of quality, when he cooks, he can be incredible. Both of his Asylum records (Seriously and Neighborhood) are HIGHLY recommended. And yes, one day I will have a cat and his name will be Joe Walsh. |
Milo and the overcaffeinated boys from SoCal really knew what it was like to be a teenager. |
Definitely the most important punk band to have played this green globe. |
Webb sounds like Foghorn Leghorn singing the Stones with a dash of B-52's style wackiness thrown in!! Work Hard, Rock Hard, Eat Hard, Sleep Hard, Grow Big, Wear Glasses If You Need 'em... |
If you want some really fine 80s pop, these guys give it great. If you want 70s style Rocky-Horror theatrical rock, you got that as well!! Fee Waybill and the boys are still doing it too... I really recommend searching out their Outside/Inside CD. |
Rockford's finest musical contribution. To this day, the Trick deliver quality rock (check out their 1997 Cheap Trick CD). Does anyone else remember when they broadcast the ChicagoFest concert on Channel 11?? |
These guys from Britain are the closest thing that the UK has produced to a Big Star successor. Incredible powerpop from a band even more obscure than St. Alex and the boys. |
Stay tuned... More to come...
Wanna go back?
Or you could always drop me a note, I love letters...
