Lucha Tv and stuff from the 22 November weekend...

CMLL-- Just like last month, this show was cut to only one hour.

***Pierroth jr, Universo 2000 and Fuerza Guerrera vs Lizmark, Atlantis and Solomon Grundy.- At least Rayo and Cien Caras are not around this time...

1/2.-Very uneventfull first fall... well, uneventfull match, in the first fall, rudos start by 'madrugete' brawling and dominationg, then, tecnicos react, but the fall last for ever, things get back to normal, more brawling, reaction, the editor takes us out of our misery and cuts a chunk... more brawling, tecnicos win... in the second, nothing changes, Atlantis and Lizmark kick Fuerza and Pierroth out of the ring, but no flying occurs, they set Universo in position to get Solomon doing a plancha and pinning the Dinamita to take the match, Pierroth and Fuerza get upset with Universo and brawl, later, Mascara Aņo Dos Mil also gets there and in short, Pierroth and Dinamitas are feuding.

***Santo, Negro Casas and Felino vs Black Warrior, Scorpio jr and Bestia Salvaje.- After almost a month, the Santo/Negro-Bestia/Scorpio feud returns...

1.- Very fast first fall, which doesn't mean it was very good, they traded a couple of moves and then Negro used a DDT on Scorpio while Santo did his cornerpost tope suicida on Bestia, while Felino countered Warrior's springboard kicks with a powerbomb for the pin and tecnicos take the first fall.

2.- Rudos triple-team on Santo, the rudos in control of the fall with some brawling, Black Warrior sends Felino out of the ring, while Bestia DDTies and pins Negro and Santo surrenders to a half crab from Scorpio...

3.- Rudos keep brawling for a brief time, as Santo and Negro react and start doing some brawling themselves, Santo has his mask untied and takes revenge on Scorpio, while Felino battles Black Warrior, Black takes Felino to the corner and goes for the frankensteiner, but Felino blocks and powerbombs him instead, but Warrior kicks out a 2, Felino goes to the ttb but gets kicked out by Warrior who then hits a nice somersault plancha, Scorpio has Negro in a sleeper hold, but Negro responds with a stunner and follows with an scorpion death lock, meanwhile, Bestia takes Santo's mask off and pins him, as Santo was to busy to cover his identity to kick out.

Post Match.- Santo and Negro challenge Bestia and Scorpio for the CMLL tag belts.Just like I had said earlier, EMLL wastes its titles in stupid feuds, and then, they don't do it right, this champ bout should have been in the tourney, but as the whole feud, this has taken too long... I'm starting to think that Scorpio simply won't accept the masks match.

AAA.-No matches this week.

Zona de Guerra preview, some segments of the card shown with some interviews:

Vicky Carranza.- She said that Xochitl is fat, Janeth is ugly and Rosy is old, and that she will teach them some lessons, about Alda and Friends she said they're midgets and she (Vicky) should wrestle on her knees to make it fair. In short, she is returning-- she was retired-- as a ruda.I guess this is the surprise Fuguitiva and Venus talked about. I might be wrong, but I think Vicky is (or was) Cobarde's wife, some 5 or 6 years ago, Cobarde was injured and was out of action for a long time, so Vicky had to take charge of the family (I don't know if she is Hijo del Cobarde mother), so she had to work extra hard, including some 'mixed-tag' matches, I remember reading about she being hit with a beer bottle by a (male) luchador, and being piledrived and almost having her neck broken during one of those mixed matches... so I'm happy that she is coming back to make more money without having to risk her life, the down side is that the success of 'las Brujas-Morenos-feud' is making some retired ladies to return, which is good if PASA is also working in getting some new female talent, but it seems that this is not the case.

Apache.- He said that he is being wasted by having to work with the green Niņo de la Calle and Oscar Sevilla, and that he should be up there with Vipers and Batos Locos... he also said that he works solo and he doesn't need to be in a gang.

Alebrije and Cobarde.- Alebrije said he is happy with the way he has stablished himself as a top carder, and that he wants a shot at Cobarde's title belt. Cobarde was injured at Verano de Escandalo and he is about to return, and has Latin Lover in his sights.

During a notiAAA segment, Tirantes said he is not done yet with Huicho, and that Arturo Rivera is supporting him. Huicho said to Tirantes that he is better and warned Arturo Rivera about helping Tirantes.

Batos Locos Interview: They said they're the 'Amos de Escandalo' and that they're much better than the Vipers. Manson said he is going to hunt Psicosis. Nygma did not said anything about Perro jr.

SUPERASTROS premier:

The show starts with some footage common to the 'WWF Attitude' logo, here it was WWF Actitud- Next some footage with WWF's stars, Austin, Undertaker, Rock, Degeneration X, etc. Somewhere there were some images of Hijo del Santo. There is a host in a set which I think is the same one used in the 'Superstars' show.

*** Armando Fernandez vs Scott Taylor.- I think Armando is Tarzan Boy, while Scott Taylor is one of those jobbers which WWF doesn't use lately because of the Monday Night Wars makes the shows to have better cards all around with few squash matches. The match started very fast and very good, soon Tarzan landed a missile kicks and got the 2 count, then Taylor was clothslined out of the ring and Fernandez delivered a somersault plancha which flipped way too much and landed in a Perro-like-senton (but Perro can not even dream about doing such a move, and besides, I think the move was blown, but it made it look even cooler in the he's-gonna-get-killed-way). They battled down there for a while and Taylor started to get the upper hand, back in the ring, things looked even, with a slight edge on Taylor, but Armando reacted and grabbed both of Scott's arms as if to do a powerbomb, but lifted and spined droping him in a piledriver-like move, and took the match... surprisingly good match, I can say now that this is the best 'SuperAstros' ever!!

Post Match: Armando was interviewed by Maria Felipe, he said he was happy, somewhere there was Max Mini (ex-Mascaraita Sagrada) un-masked. As someone said in the RSPW Maria Felipe could be called 'mexican-Sunny'.

***Merenguero vs Chris Martinez.- I don't know who Merenguero is, from the RSPW, I think he is one of Savio Vega's 'los Boricuas' member. Martinez is (I think) El Zorro who was in PromoAztecaand still uses that gimmik in Monterrey. This match was very weak, Merenguero spent more time dancing with Maria Felipe than in the actuall match, which had nothing special, Merenguero won after a ttb (top turnbucke) reverse suplex, which reminds me of the one Ultimo Guerrero used to beat Mr Aguila for his mask... no I don't think Merenguereo is Ultimo...

Somewhere there, the host talked about the WWF's corporate champ, the Rock, and said that next week they will be talking about Stone Cold. Max Mini also interviewed one of the Oddities.

*** Hijo del Santo vs Super Loco.- I was really looking forward to this match, not for Hijo, but for Super Crazy. I think Super is working in the FULL promotion in Japan and he is not in Mexico that much, I think he should now be in Germany working there for a while. The match started slowly with some mat work, soon they picked up, Super started to use his highflying stuff, first with a springboard inside the ring quebrada, and then with another inside the ring top rope springboard senton, or maybe that was a guillotine legdrop, but Super Loco ended landing in a senton over Santo. Commercials (what?) back in the match, Santo recovers with a bulldog, after Super Loco missed a spinning plancha from the ttb. Santo goes to the ttb to deliver his falling tope, which leaves Super Loco open for the 'la de a caballo' which awards Santo the match.

COMMENTS.- I saw some bad reviews about this in the newsgroup, but I think it is unfair to try to compare this particular show to anything else on the american market. I can not compare this to the WCW mexican group b/c they work in the main shows, and the format makes it imposible to compare this to the CMLL/AAA shows on Gala. The main problem is the format and the time, I mean, why not a full hour? And what about having six men tag matches of 12-15 minutes instead of 3 3-5 minutes match? Anyway, I liked in the 'its eleven and the Cowboys game is an hour away'. I guess Tarzan Boy, Zorro, Apolo Dantes and Mr Aguila should be commited to WWF, besides that they have the light heavyweight guys and maybe Negro, Santo and Super Crazy will stick aroud, so SuperAstros might work once they book some storylines...

OTHER STUFF

WCW Monday Night Nitro.-

Non Lucha stuff.- Kevin Nash won the World War III ppv, it is a three ring sixty men battle royal, the winner gets a title shot in December. Konnan stayed in the ring for a while and was in there when only 9 men remained. WCW will use the Nash-Goldberg match to run the company thru the end of the year. Scott Hall is out of the NWO Hollywood, and it seems Hogan might be retiring, and that Hitman Bret Hart might take over... byt the way, maybe it was only me, but I think that the Malenko vs Hart match sucked more than a 500 horse power electrolux, funny thing is that Hart is in the smaller end of the heavyweight size espectrum, but he looked huge next to Malenko, this was supposed to be a 'text book' match... they should go down to Mexico City to take some lessons in Naucalpan with Ultimo Dragon, or in the Cibernetico group with Negro Casas...

Mexicans in the show:

*Silver King did nothing against Saturn.

*Norman Smiley vs Chris Benoit... known in Mexico as Black Magic and Pegassus Kid, Norman was 10 times better than the last time I saw him in WCW, but that is not saying much, still, he had something there agaist Benoit who should be the 'monster' of wrestling...

* Konnan defeated Booker T by DQ when Booker's bro hit Konehead with a slapjack, Konnan and Booker are in that pro-wrestling limbo that can not have a clear finish because that would damage their reputations...

During the WWIII ppv, Juventud Guerrera should have defended his title against Rey Misterio jr, but booking in the fly had it thrown away and Juvi fought Kidman again. Kidman recovered the belt with some help from Rey. On Nov23 Nitro, Kidman thanked Rey and said he will give Rey a title shot that same night, Eddy Guerrero came out and said that Misterio has to be in the lWo and gave him a XXXXXXL lWo t-shirt.

* Rey Misterio jr vs Kidman.- Rey looks to be getting better after his knee injury, but I guess he is still not in his best form, he did some good headsicsors, a cool looking sunset flip-turn into a sort of reverse DDT which got a 2 count, some good drop kicks, and I think even did an out of the ring plancha (I don't remember very good as I did not tape this and after 16 hours on the road I've forgotten about this...), but overall, Kidman dominated the match, he even catched Rey in one of Misterio's moonsaults, to then slamm him to the mat, also, he countered Misterio's springboard hurracarana with dropkicks. The match had a lot of close pin moments, untill Eddy Guerrero and Juvi (who, btw, I think his real name is also Eduardo, eWl?-- Eddies World Order?) came out, Kidman delivered a side plancha on Eddy, which was not that good, sorry, Kidman, you can't learn lucha by osmosis!! Meanwhile, Juvi got in the ring and Juvidrived Rey, Kidman returned and did his shootstar press to get the match and keep the title.

This match did not work for me, mainly from the 'face vs face' stuff there. They had their moves, but somehow, we all knew they will not get the pin untill the lWo showed up and did the run in. At the end, both Kidman and Rey lose a lot of credibility, I mean, they hit their best moves but achieve nothing, while a sigle Juvi-driver put Rey out of the match. I guess that the problem is that neither Rey nor Kidman have the same ability as Juvi to carry the opponent to a great match, the crowd was not very much into the match, untill Eddy and Juvi entered, which made them errupt. The best thing about all this stuff is that at last Juvi is rudo again, even if a guy in the #RSPW room say that the rudo term could not be apply here...
