IWRG from Arena Naucalpan taped March 21!!!!!!!!

*** Zonick vs Mr Cobra.-

2.- Pretty slow match (or fall), with Cobra taking some bumps, going on control, then Zonick reacting and dominating a little, next Cobra does a Fuerza's shake hand spot and regains the momentum of the match, with a couple of (non devastating) stunners and a bulldog, then takes Zonick out of the ring, Cobra beats Zonick down there, much to the disgust of some first row ladies. When they return to the ring, the near pin/submission sequence begins, with Zonick being the winner after forcing the rudo to submit with a 'universal' hold variant. Sort of uneventful match, I guess they had Zonick winning it clearly on 2 falls to give him some credit as a better than opener matches worker.

*** Stoker Ichikawa and Rockambole vs Fantasy and Horiguchi.- First time for the Japanese guys in this recaps, Horiguchi used a white with red (flames or something) outfit, while Stoker entered the race for the goofiest outfit in the world of lucha. He had huge ears and eyebrows, and antennae, quite bizarre.

1.- Both Japanese workers trade some moves and holds, with Rockambole entering to help his partner as many times as possible. The Orientals tag out and the locals enter, Rockambole enters with his somersault mistake senton to the mat bump!! Rockambole and Fantasy have a matwork segment, then the Japanese return to speed up the fall, Fantasy does some armdrags and has a good offense on Rockambole, then Horiguchi uses a fisherman suplex like move (a fisherman buster I guess), and covers, Fantasy goes to the ttb to deliver a (theoretically) moonsault, but he slips from there and falls to the ring, apparently, screwing his right leg...Fantasy submits to a hold by Rockambole. Horiguchi reacts and this time uses a fisherman suplex to take the fall.

2.- It seems that Fantasy was either over-selling his leg, or was really injured, both rudos double team Horiguchi and then pin him after a Stoker plancha, then Rockambole works on Fantasy's leg for a while, and makes him quit to a half crab. 3.- The rudo brawl goes on, Horiguchi had some sporadic reactions, but the rudos controlled the first part of the fall, Rockambole tried to pin Horiguchi after a suplex with bridge pin, but Fantasy made the save, then Stoker fights with Horiguchi, and puts him into a submission hold, but the no longer selling leg injury Fantasy breaks the move, and puts Ichikawa into a half crab, but Rockambole enters to make the break. Rockambole keeps overpowering Horiguchi with some whips and corner splashes, but then Fantasy assist his partner to reverse a corner whip with flying headscissors on Rockambole, they began a missed sentons segment, and then Fantasy uses 'la casita' or 'magistral' to pin Rockambole, while Horiguchi made Ichikawa quit with yet another variation of 'la universal' (this one looked like the octaclutch). OK match which suffered from the fact that Fantasy could work his spots all right because of his injury (supposing it was legit)

*** Slayer and 'Los Super Payasos': Rodi and Bruly vs Mercurio, Mochizuki and Rey Cuervo.- Rey Cuervo is a newcomer here and looks like Rey Pantera but in a black with yellow outfit, who knows, maybe Cuervo and Pantera are the same guy. Debut for los Super Payasos (in this page), they have... yes, you got it right, clown gimmicks!!!!

1.- The first part of the fall had all of them doing matwork, the Payasos gimmick might be pretty lame, but these guys were pretty decent, later, they got into flashier moves, and the SuperPayasos delivered with some good start armdrag springboard on top rope continue armdrag stuff that was cool, as well as some flying headsicssors, the Payasos look good, not into groundbreaking moves or original stuff, but ok on their on right. The end had Slayer nailing Mochi with missile kicks, then putting him out with 'la campana' hold which made him submit. One of the Super Payasos powerbombed Rey Cuervo and pinned him, while the other did a tope suicida on Mercurio (but the camera didn't got it).
2.- It looks as if the tecnicos are too good for the rudos as they keep ahead early on the second fall, Bruly delivers a cool frankensteiner which started with him seated on Mercurio's shoulders, but facing toward the center of the ring, then doing a half spin there and ending with the frankensteiner move! Mochi puts Slayer into the 4 figure leg lock, and the rudos (rudoes?) take it from them, brawling to take the second fall, quite strong rudo offense there...
3.- The rudos keep dominating here, with the tecnicos only hinting about reaction, but without achieving it until the three rudos go for a double grapevine hold on both Super Payasos (reverse surfboard?), so Slayer crawls there to get a 2 count, but most importantly, the tecnicos are reacting, the rally back and the end goes something like this: Slayer hits a side plancha on 2 rudos, then, the other rudo try a senton, but Slayer moves, A Super Payaso hits another side plancha on all 3 rudos, next the other Super Payaso connects another plancha (the first Super Payaso didn't move away, so I guess it was botched), and finally, Slayer hits them again with yet another plancha and the tecnicos win the match.

The super Payasos were a nice surprise, they work pretty good for their style and gimmick, they are not wonderfully original guys, but I guess they have some success from doing what they do, and actually made this match interesting and added to the quality of it. They're waaaaay better than AAA's Payasos.

*** Multifacetico, Micke Segura and Ultimo Vampiro vs Dr Cerebro, Star Boy and Punch Power.- Revenge match.

1.- Lengthy matwork exchanges with everyone getting involved, Punch Power teases a walk out, then the matwork is continued, then Micke and Cerebro speed the pace a little with Micke delivering his 720º flying headsicssors, which had Dr Cerebro ending on the floor, Micke goes to the apron and Dr Cerebro charges, but Segura moves away and Cerebro ends up sliding on the mat for a couple of feet before falling again to the floor!! Multifacetio and Starboy keep with the pace as they trade some moves, Starboy manages to get the tecnico near 'la esquina del dolor' so Punch Power helps him a little and the rudos seem to be dominating now, but this last short, as Vampiro drop-kicks Punch out of the ring and nails him (self) with a tope suicida!! He barely connects the tope as he mostly lands on the protective barrier. In the ring, the rudos seem to be going on good, but the tecnicos win the fall with the goofiest team submission move ever, it had Multifacetico in the corner, he made Starboy to duck and trapped his head with his leg, Cerebro jumped on Starboy and Segura pulled Cerebro's arms backwards... Multifacetico was on the corner, so the hold should be broken b/c of the ropes... but... well...

2.- Long rudo brawling, the rudos used a lot of team attacks to keep beating the tecnicos, but, of course, the react after Dr Cerebro hits a clothsline on Starboy, the tecnicos get some payback, and Segura uses 'la casita' on Dr Cerebro, but Punch Power makes the save, things cool down as the enter the submission hold-break stage, Cerebro ends out of the ring and Micke assists Starboy on a plancha on Dr Cerebro, they fight for a while and then find themselves under the attack of double topes suicidas be Segura and Multifacetico. In the ring, Ultimo Vampiro uses his powerbomb in which he first drops his enemy on the top rope so he springs up and then twist him to drop him into the mat and takes the match pinning Punch Power.

*** Guerra sin Escape---- Los Oficiales (Vigilante, Guardia and Oficial), Maniac Cop, Bombero Infernal and Fireman vs Kato Kung Lee, MoonWalker, Brazo, Brazo Cibernetico, El Salsero and Mr Niebla (II).-- This is the concept: The 12 guys start as in a battle royal, but there is not 'over the top rope' rule, only regular elimination, the guys out of the match have to stay ringside, there are 2 sides for each team members to stay, if an enemy leaves the ring and falls there, they can beat him up... cool!

-- It starts with a big brawling, of course, as the 12 guys start beating each other and soon Brazo is juicing a bucket of blood, lots of kicks and punches with some moves here and there and a lot of things going on to keep an eye on how and who where and who eliminated who. Things made more sense when Maniac Cop and Bombero Infernal were going against Brazo, Kato and Salsero. Maniac Cop used a small chain to hit Brazo, then Brazo kicked Maniac Cop, who dropped the chain, Brazo picked it up and wanted to use it, Maniac Cop went to the floor and the referees thought that Brazo had used the chain!! Brazo DQ!! By that time, the battle royal stuff was mostly done, as the workers still alive, where on the apron, seeing how the match went on (and taking their breath), Kato even does his walk on the ropes stuff, but Maniac Cop kicks him and puts him into an abdominal stretch, Salsero makes the save and Kato goes out of the ring, and so does one of the referees, who is attacked by the tecnicos!! The referee went to the rudos for cover. They keep going, with Maniac Cop pinning Kato after a missed reverse tope, Salsero gets a Huracanrana on Maniac, but Bombero makes the save. The rudos go 2 on 1 on Salsero and beat him for a while, with Maniac Cop throwing Salsero over his head, Salsero lands on Bombero and pins him with Huracanrana, while Cop thought that the match was over in their favor. Maniac and Salsero fight a while, with Salsero using a bridge to cover Maniac Cop, but Bombero Infernal entered and low blow the tecnico, while the rudos dragged a referee out of the ring !! The other referee counts and gives the match to the rudos, but later, the other one returns and DQ the rudos, so it seem that officially, the tecnicos won.

I saw this match twice, the first time I hated it, but then (while doing the recap), I almost liked it a lot. The ciberntetico tag -- battle royal -- lumberjack -- style of match worked good here, and I guess the match was done very well, the flaw was the guys they used on it, of course, most of them older guys, well, who knows how old the Oficiales are, but they're like Hermanos Dinamitas kind of rudos. DCantu told me that el Salsero is IWRG booker, so I guess he booked himself to win this thing, I think it is not too wise to use your booking power to put yourself over (i. E. Salsero, Negro and Nash).
