US RIFLE M1 GARANDThe M1 Garand was the standard US rifle in World War Two and the Korean War. General George s. Patton called it " The greatest battle implement ever divised." US troops were the only major army in WWII to be equipped with a semi automatic rifle. Most armies at the time were equipped with slower firing bolt action repeating rifles. The M1's accuracy, reliability and high volume of fire gave US troops a decisive edge on the battlefield.
