Graphing Lines & Slope
The skill of graphing lines in Algebra is a basic necessity for understanding more complicated ideas
in the future.
This project is being developed so that Algebra students in my classes will have a chance to learn on-line. It is being developed as another way for students to learn the basics of Algebra in an interactive format. This website has been made to provide students content of several topics along with immediate help if needed via the internet at various sites.
It will address the needs of all first year Algebra students and allow them to learn material from a different perspective than the classroom. It meets the needs of supplying students with technological education.
In the technologically advanced world that we live in, any student that is not exposed to on-line education and interaction will surely be at a loss. Students will hopefully learn the material better if they can learn the material in a unique fashion such as interactive learning on the internet.
The philosophy that I believe in is information and interaction. The students are exposed to new ideas and then allowed to apply them through practice and guided instruction. This lesson also offers the student a chance to interact on line with various mediums. The students have a chance at the end of the lesson to test their knowledge by taking an on-line quiz.
Location, pitch and problem-solving strategies are all linked to graphing lines. The pitch or angle of a line is used to help define its slope. Throughout these five lessons, the goal is to learn these and many more important concepts including the following:
-
HOW TO GRAPH POINTS-HOW TO DETERMINE THE SLOPE OF A LINE
-HOW TO GRAPH LINES
-USE A POINT AND SLOPE TO GRAPH A LINE
-BE ABLE TO DETERMINE IF LINES ARE PARALLEL, PERPENDICULAR OR NEITHER BY CALCULATING THEIR SLOPE
