Graphing More Lines
Now let's put two concepts together to graph lines anywhere on the
coordinate plane.
Let's review what we've gone over so far.
1) Graphing points on the coordinate plane is easy as
long as you remember to move left or right first and
then up or down. Remember to always start at the
origin.
2) The slope of a line is how steep it is. It is often
referred to as rise over run, because it's the change
in the x values divided by the change in the y values.
3) Graphing lines is easy when they are in
y = mx = b form. Always start at the intercept and
move according to the given slope.
To graph lines using a given point and slope is easy. First plot the point
and then use the slope to plot a second. Connect the two and you're done !
In order to do this, you'll need some graph paper.
Plot the following lines on your coordinate plane and show them to me
tomorrow. Good Luck !!
Line 1 m = 5, through the point ( 3, 2 )
Line 2 m = -2, through the point ( -5, -2 )
Line 3 m = .5, through the point ( 0, -4 )
Line 4 m = 3/2, through the point ( -3, -5 )
Line 5 m = -3/5, through the point ( 1, 1 )
