- River or Mountain Chocobo- To get a river or mountain chocobo, you need to get a good and a very good chocobo.(Chocobo types discussed below.) Or two of the same kind. Feed them as many greens as you can afford and take them to the Gold Saucer. Race them and get them as good as you can. Then go to the to the Icicle area. Wander around in any grass area touching the snow and you will eventually run into a Brachioladus (big horned red-brown thing). Steal from it until you get a Carob Nut, then go back and breed your chocobos and give them the Carob Nut. You should get a river or mountain chocobo, but just reset and try again if you don't get one.
- River/Mountain Chocobo- To get a river/mountain chocobo, you need to breed a river chocobo and a mountain chocobo. First, advance your river and mountain chocobos to class A or better at the chocobo races. After that, breed them with yet another Carob Nut and you might get a black chocobo. If not, reset the game and try again.
- Sea Chocobo- To get this chocobo you must breed a black chocobo and a best chocobo. Get a best chocobo by running aroung the tracks in the Icicle Lodge. Advance both chocobos to class A or better. Breed them with a Zeio Nut found on the goblin island (see map, its to the far east). That's it. The greatest chocobo in the world. A gold one. Now go find the Knights of the Round materia and kick Sephiroth's A$$!!
Good Chocobos are found in the Gold Saucer area.
Very Good Chocobos are found by Mideel and in the Rocket Town Area.
Best Chocobos are found in Icicle Area.
