THE SATIVA STAMPEDE

In September of 2000, a inovative mission was taking place. The mission: take eight of the local bands in the suburban area and put them in a tournament on television. The winner would get the opening spot at Chronicfest III. These eight bands all invaded the SRTV studio and after running over time, the cordinator of the battle was banned from tv time for six months.

The sadest thing about this episode is that the original event known simply as the CLASH 4 HASH did not air ever. Not only did the episode not air, but somehow the tape got lost within the AT&T offices. This was tragic so the Stoned Ranger (cordinator) thought of a plan.

The plan was simple. It would be to expand the tournament. Instead of using only 8 bands, there would be 16. And all 16 would not be in the studio at one time. The bands who were in the original Clash 4 Hash would be showcased as guests. You may remember these people as...

SHADOZEDGE, THYATIRA, MESSIN' WITH TEXAS, AND THE BULLETS (FORMERLY VOLFGONG)

These four bands will headline each bracket of a tournament. We need 12 other bands to compete against them. This new tournament is called THE SATIVA STAMPEDE. And here is how it works:

THE QUALIFYING ROUND
First all 16 bands will compete in the first round. SRTV will be moved up from it's normal 60 minutes to 90 minutes. One of the four bands above would be the "guests" meaning 5 minute interview to make up for the loss from the Clash and 3 songs. Every other band plays two songs. There will be an online voting poll from the website stonedranger.com and people could vote once a day.

THE QUARTER FINALS
Eight will leave, eight will remain. This will be advancement from the last round. What will happen here is the footage from the first round will be replayed (the "guests" will only have two songs played). We will still be in 90 minute mode at this point.

THE SEMI FINALS
Four bands left. The same thing will take place as before. We still run for 90 minutes.

THE FINALS
Two bands left. We still use the old footage however each final band gets a 10 minute interview on SRTV. We return to our original format of 60 minutes.

THE WINNER
Whoever wins will recieve some type of plaque of something like that and plus will be the star of a pilot episode of a Strictline Production that will take place in October called "The Band Within." This will feature 1/2 hours worth of following around a band for a week with a camera. Should be lots of fun. Plus you get to star in SRTV for an episode where you are presented with award and get to play for 20 minutes and get a pretty neat interview.

The tournament will be posted by the end of July and we will start rolling after August 1st. The only things you need are a PA and also must be willing to come to Mt Prospect during a weeknight.
