NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER 2001

RAIN WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE AN OPTION
Chronicfest IV could have been one of the best events of the summer, but due to the Ranger supposedly doing something to piss off mother nature. The event was rained out and bands Vis@40, Ballistic, Smoke and Soulfood all were robbed of their chance to play the show.

The event did not get started until 3:30 pm due to the weather. The Strictline was in trouble when the downfall began at 11:15 am. Special thanks go to Matt and Dave from Speakers for helping out and getting a tent to do the majority of the show in and thanks to them, the bassist from Speakers and Mark from the Sacred Om for helping to put this up in the pouring rain. Swidden got started and pleased the masses of people they brought. Followed by them was Brand XXX who still rocked due to their drummer getting sick. More powerful performances took place as Syndicate thrashed the crowd with their brand of music. The weather was starting to clear up.

The Sacred Om took stage as they participated in the biggest show of their life, and did quite well. Godsize took stage and fucked shit up as usual, and Nmbr 6 also kicked out the jams as well. Then the rain started again.

Speakers of the Popular Front did not let the rain stop them as they jammed out their set. Committed who ended up being the last band of the evening played to their fans and new faces as well. Unfortunately afterwards the Strictline decided in order to cut loses and due to lack of people showing up due to the weather, that they would pull the plug on the show. The Stoned Ranger was disgusted and his words that were dark could let anyone know what was happening.

In order to make up to the 4 bands and the people who came for them, the Strictline is trying to get another show going in Joliet. Perhaps “O’ Christmas Weed” may take place there for a kick ass Christmas show. Special thanks to John, Dave Adams, Steve from Committed for helping to make this show as good as it could be.

TAKE THE NEXT STEP
The next Strictline show is at Riley’s and is the follow-up to the May 2000 flop “Stoner’s Anonymous.” It will feature 4 bands who have done stuff with the Strictline. Returning from C4 will be Nmbr 6 and The Sacred Om. Cry for Dawn comes back to Rangerville, and the new Bulkhead now known as Spent will be making their debut on the scene at this show. Also south side heroes Infrared will be treating us to some shit as well.

CHICAGO UPDATE
Due to the delay of the Sativa Stampede, the broadcast of SRTV in Chicago will be put off until October. It will be worth the wait for all those waiting for the freak show in the big city.
