PLEASE NOTE: GEISS was formerly called FX. Same author, same program,
only much improved.

WHAT IS GEISS?
--------------
GEISS is a graphics-intensive screensaver for Windows 95/98. It
optionally supports sound input; if you have a sound card, you can
either play an audio CD (if you have an audio cable connecting the
CD-ROM and sound card) or just run some music into the line-in on
your sound card. Then, when you run GEISS, you'll be able to see the
waveform on-screen, along with some amazing full-motion graphics.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------
1. Microsoft Windows 95 or later. NT is unsupported.
2. Microsoft DirectX 5.0 or later.
3. Pentium-133 or faster processor. For best performance, a 200 MHz
or faster CPU is recommended. MMX is highly utilized, so
performance on MMX systems will see tremendous gains (especially
      in 32-bit color modes).

INSTALLING GEISS
----------------
Simply put the file GEISS.SCR into your Windows directory. Then go to
the control panel, click 'Display Properties', click the 'Screen savers'
tab, and select "GEISS" from the list of screensavers there. You're set
to go! IMPORTANT: If you have a sound card, don't forget to click the
'SOUND ENABLED' checkbox (in 'Settings') to take advantage of it!

LICENSE AGREEMENT
-----------------
You may use and copy GEISS freely. However, you may NOT charge money
for distributing GEISS unless it is distrubuted with over 500 other
shareware programs on a shareware bundle CD whose programs have over
100 distinct authors. In other words, don't sell GEISS - it's free,
and if you sell it, I'll find you and break your legs!

DISCLAIMER
----------
The author is not responsible for ANY damages or loss of data that
occur to your system for using GEISS. GEISS is distributed freely, and
if you choose to use GEISS, you take all risk on yourself. If your
system appears to have problems when GEISS is run, you should immediately
discontinue using GEISS.

It is especially important to note that GEISS DOES NOT SUPPORT PASSWORDS
like normal screensavers. If you want a screensaver with a password,
use one of Windows' built-in savers. The author is not responsible
for any security issues that come about because GEISS does not support
passwords.

TIPS
----
1. You can control the amplitude (height) of the waveform by adjusting
the volume of your sound source, or via Windows' Volume Control
(adjust the CD Audio and/or Line-In channels).
2. If just watching the screensaver for fun, try minimizing all other
windows, especially ones that do a lot of painting (like the
Windows CD player). These can cause a serious drop in frame rate
or periodic jerkiness in the frame rate.
3. You should try all the video modes to see which one looks and runs
best on your system; there are vast differences between them, in
image quality, speed, and color depth.
4. You can run GEISS like a normal application rather than just as a
screensaver. Rename GEISS.SCR to GEISS.EXE. You can then run
it with /C to access the configuration panel, or /S to activate
the program. (This method works for almost any screensaver.)
5. 'GEISS' rhymes with 'ice'.
