          Talking Among Themselves

          March 2, 1999

          I sit in the back of the room;
          As the people talkd among themselves,
          I wonder what they may be saying.
          Jealousy fills within from not being included;
          Yet, the people don't seem to notice me at all.
          Continuously, they talk among themselves.

          Sometimes I just like to be left alone,
          While the people talk among themselves.
          Although at times I want to be included,
          In all their groups and small cliques,
          But they all go about leaving me in the cold,
          Always talking among themselves.

          All the people that surround me, always,
          Have set for themselves higher standards,
          Than I, myself could ever think of meeting.
          So as i sit in the back of the room, alone
          The people go about talking among themselves

          As I observe all the people
          And long to be part of what they are,
          They look through my exixtence to talk among themselves.
          I try to bring myself up to their level;
          Still they see past my virtual being,
          Just to sit with each other and talk amontg themselves.

          I have now come to the reality,
          That I am completely different than they,
          Though they may talk among themselves,
          And though I feel as lonely as I do,
          I still sit at the back of the room and stare
