In 1992, the platform that would be known as Dilated Peoples began to take form. It started as a series of impromptu freestyle sessions at L.A.'s Hip Hop Shop and has evolved constantly since. Years later, Iriscience (Iristyle) and Evidence have expanded beyond just being "rapper/graffiti artists" (though deadly at both). After leaving an "educational" deal with Immortal Records, and leaving their management and production companies, Dilated has become a creative force...older, wiser, and more determined than ever.
"My raps will wit you like a time release capsule," states Iriscience (Iristyle). The Los Angeles native made his way onto the Hip Hop scene in 1984 via graffiti art, and is a member of the C2D crew. Involved in poetry since childhood and music since birth (church), the combination of the two was natural. "Music is communication. I'm talking to people today and tomorrow. It's fellowship. It's expression, each word and each color." He has been involved with Zulu Nation and was Council for West Coast Rocksteady Crew. Today, he is involved in the art of party rocking, the complete culture of Hip Hop, and lifting fog off of hazy minds.
Previously "VaneOne," Evidence took form originally as an alias due to graffiti beefs and the ever developing aura of the Mic Controller that was developing in his mind. By 1990, he had fully dropped the title Vane, and the Venice native was set on his path to Emcee excellence. Also locking shit down on the production side of things, Evidence has earned himself two titles; a dilated MC reigning in word play and spontaneity, and one of the "illest beat killas."
During the making of the unreleased LP Imagery, Battlehymns, and Political Poetry (Immortal/Epic), Dilated Peoples worked with the likes of Xzibit, E-Swift, DJ Lethal, Joey Chavez, T-Love, Redman, and a host of others Though slated for a 1995 release, in the last year the album has become a favorite on mix tapes and with dub master. This has turned a bitter situation into a worldwide underground buzz for Dilated, and into the inspiration to continue.
The song, "End of the Time" on Immortal's The Next Chapter compilation earned Dilated nationwide press. The group received write-ups in magazines such as: HITS, Rap Pages, URB, Kronic, Elements and One Nut, and they have appeared on : Friday Night Flavors(Power 106), The Joint (92.3 The Beat), The Wake Up Show(92.3 The Beat), We Came from Beyond (88.9 KXLU), and many other commercial and college/underground radio stations. Out of this has come both acclaim and work. Isiscience worked on the upcoming Funkdoobiest Troubleshooters LP, as well as putting out the Old World Chaos EP (with more to come), and is working on a new project called Cornerstoners. Evidence has been busy producing tracks for Defari (Source Magazine June'97- Sure Shot Singles), Ultramagnetic(Industry if Wack- remix), Visionaries, and Vancouver's Swollen Members. Through the release Third Degree(w/defari) with Confidence and Global Dynamics, one of the thickest (maxi)singles in recent times. It is a must have for any consumer and every DJ. To quote Third Degree, "When this thing is done, things will never be the same!"
