Business Related

First person to pilot and implement the EDI 215 transaction set with UPS. Implemented and supported 20 unique EDI transaction sets for over 60 Trading Partners at Wilson Sporting Goods (versions 3010 – 4010).

Member of the Baxter Quality Working Group to help implement the electronic transmission and payment of subsidiary invoices.

Member of the Baxter Global Network Project to define and implement corporate worldwide Network and EDI standards. Sysop in charge of the Baxter Export Corporation's Bulletin Board System (BBS).

Wrote an article on Technical Interviewing Techniques that appeared in the September 1989 issue of System/3X & ASWORLD magazine - a major publication in the 3X industry.

Business and Application Experience

CONSULTING – Old World Trade – Automotive products – EDI GENTRAN AS/400 RPGLE, RPGLESQL (2001).

Created and programmed inbound documents: 856, 944, 864, 810, 816, 852, 830. Outbound documents: 944, 810, 850. Created an internal EDI infrastructure and VAN (value added network) to trade EDI documents within the internal companies. Continued developing EDI programs using SQL and RPGLE.

CONSULTING – Old World Trade – Automotive products – EDI GENTRAN AS/400 RPGLE, RPGLESQL (1999-2000).

Created inbound 860 PO change, inbound and outbound 856 ASN, inbound 864, 942 and 810, and outbound 940 EDI maps and interface applications.

Designed and implemented a warehouse system to provide the ability to receive product, select orders for picking and shipping, print shipping labels and bar codes, and update ERP system. Applications will print pick ticket, adjust inventory, create an EDI 856 ASN, and print UCC128 bar codes via interface to the T.L. Ashford Bar Code software application. Application is Web browser capable and can be used via the internet with any Web browser or via a modem using IBM client access.

Designed and implemented EDI 823 Lock Box transaction map and RPGIV applications to pull electronic check receipts from the bank and apply to A/R.

Designed and implemented EDI 856 Advanced Ship Notices for all partners to include Kmart, Target, and Ace. All programming was performed in RPGIV interfacing to HFA and Gentran applications. Support, maintenance and redesign for other transaction sets include 810, 850, 864, 940, 942, and 996.

CONSULTING – ERO Hedstrom – Toy manufacturer – EDI GENTRAN AS/400 RPGLE (1999).

Re-wrote (RPGIV) the EDI PO process to use common transaction and application maps to save countless hours of maintenance of over 100 Partner specific maps. Generic maps allow one map to be used for each transaction set for all Partners instead of i.e. 100 maps for your 100 partners. New system utilized a generic EDI Business Rules methodology to replace all Trading Partner hard coded logic in GENTRAN maps, applications, tables, exit programs, and interface programs. Enhanced just-in-time 869/870 applications. Enhanced ASN application to accommodate a real-time ASN process.

Created RPGIV applications and utilities to support day-to-day EDI functions and operations. Maintained EDI RPGIII applications. Negotiated new EDI Vendor contract to cut EDI transmission costs by 50%, and consolidated EDI transmission data to increase volume cost savings. Extensive subfile programming was involved for all projects.

WILSON SPORTING GOODS (Corp.) – (1999)

Designed and coded (COBOL) the AS400 interface to Wilson’s Internet Web based ordering system at www.wilsonsuperstore.com/cgi-bin/WilsonSuperStore.storefront.

Designed and coded the "Office Supply Inventory & Account Tracking System" for Office Services Dept. and the "Forecast Trend Analysis System" for Corp. using VISUAL BASIC 6.0.

WILSON SPORTING GOODS (Corp.) – EDI – GENTRAN AS/400 COBOL (1999)

The first person, globally, to pilot and implement the 215 (Motor Carrier Pick-up Manifest) for UPS. Designed, coded and implemented the following projects: a) JIT (Just in Time) with JCPenney, b) JIT with Woolworth (including Footlocker, Lady Footlocker, and Champs), c) UPC Catalog. Languages used: COBOL and RPG IV.

WILSON SPORTING GOODS (Corp.) – EDI – GENTRAN AS/400 COBOL (1996-7)

Designed, coded (COBOL), and implemented the following projects: a) AAFES VMI (vendor managed inventory), b) Consolidated invoice system for Spiegel c) Kmart KICS (Kmart Inventory Control System), d) Kmart JIT e) Implemented NetSoft for Windows95, f) RPS Ship Notices (204) and Invoice/Freight Details (210). In addition to bringing up multiple new EDI transaction sets, I negotiated a new VAN contract with Sterling Software to save Wilson almost $50,000 a year.

WILSON SPORTING GOODS (Corp.) – EDI - GENTRAN AS/400 COBOL (1995)

Took charge of EDI for all of Wilson at the corporate level. Designed, coded, and implemented an entire new EDI system utilizing COBOL to be extremely flexible and more modular. Due to efficiencies and lack of redundant coding at the divisional level, EDI inbound processing time decreased tenfold.

WILSON SPORTING GOODS (Racquet Division) – EDI - GENTRAN AS/400 COBOL (1992-4)

Designed and implemented the following COBOL projects: a) Kmart PIMF system (a vendor managed inventory system), b) Kmart PIN (Partner Information Network), c) Invoice archival to CD ROM, d) added the top 20 customers to the EDI system for Purchase Orders, Invoices, Advanced Ship notices, and over a dozen other transaction sets. Visual Basic Projects included: a) USPTA Tennis Questionnaire, b) GUI application to view AS/400 Fill Rate data via Windows95.

BAXTER PROJECT - FEDERAL EXPRESS (1992)

Designed and programmed interface to Federal Express to retrieve flight and status details for packages shipped overseas. IBM's EDI ExpEDIte software was used to access Fed Ex data on the IIN network. PC and AS400 RPG programs were written to retrieve and display the data via an inquiry screen for oversea users to access.

BAXTER PROJECT - EDI - Supply Tech (1991/1992)

Designed, programmed, and implemented the first EDI document at Baxter Global Businesses utilizing RPG/400. Document received was the X12 856 Ship Notice. Implemented an outbound EDIFACT Invoice transaction set.

BAXTER PROJECT - A/R NETTING (1991)

Created AS400 RPG and PC programs that would electronically transmit current month's account receivables to a major bank for funds processing. When the invoices matured and funds transferred, a file would be electronically received and processed on the AS400 to create transaction history records and update A/R files for invoices paid.

BAXTER - (1989/90).

Created RFQ (Request for Quote) system in RPGIII. Sysop in charge a PC BBS (Bulletin Board System) to allow Baxter forwarders to dial in and download/upload data. Maintain and support Purchasing System. Programmed and assisted in the design of the "Global Data Exchange" project.

CONSULTING - Stone Container - Paper Products Firm (1989).

Technical Consultant involved in a COBOL conversion project from a Data General main frame to an IBM AS/400 (COBOL, and CL).

CONSULTING - Bruning - Graphics Products Manufacturing Firm (1989).
