Todd Barnes the man that kept the fastest punk beat for the greatest band of
all time. No one has ever come close to the fast beats of todd barnes he is
truly a legend in rock.
I have to admit that I am a late bloomer... I only found out about T.S.O.L. in February of this year. I got the first E.P. with Weathered Statues,
and the record completely blew my mind. The one thing that really caught my attention was the drumming on the record... I couldn't believe how fast
Todd played! I tried playing that fast, but that was a fucking joke. At that time, I sucked royally at the drums... I couldn't do anything. But
listening to this record each and every day inspired me to become a better drummer. Then, I finally got Dance With Me a couple of months afterward...
which totally did it for me. Slowly, I started to come along on my drumming, and I figured out how to play faster. Now I can play quite fast, and have made an amazing progression with my drumming coordination and skills... and I am still completely baffled at how Todd can keep up with his speed and explosiveness on each song. It seems that I come to appreciate Todd's drumming more and more each day. He carried T.S.O.L., and that is saying a lot when you have amazing talents like Jack, Mike, and Ron up front. His best drumming, however, came on Beneath the Shadows. Though not as fast, his drumming was untouchable... he matured as a musician, and was always totally on-point. Todd Barnes was a musical genius, and was a true original. I give all my love and condolensces to the Barnes' family and all who knew and loved Todd. R.I.P.- to the greatest drummer of all-time, for the greatest band of all-time: Todd Barnes. -Jesse
I remember the day I got the letter from the mailing list that Todd had died,
that morning I listened to Dance With Me and it was just like "How the hell
did he do that?" in regard to his drumwork. How he played so fast and did it
consistently is beyond me and I think more than anything else, the way he
played just a little faster than anyone else is what made TSOL so great. He
will be missed. -Bryan
Todd Barnes in my mind was one of the gratest drummers in the
punk/hardcore scene, being a fan of T.S.O.L and many other punk bands for
many years i have to say he was one of the best and will always be remembered
by me and many other fans. Thank you Todd Barnes for being part of T.S.O.L
and may you R.I.P.Ben
