The Author

Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri was born in Karbala, Iraq, a descendant of several generations of well-known and revered spiritual leaders. Educated in Europe and America, he established several firms in the Middle East and worked as a consultant in the oil industry. He travelled extensively, especially in India, in pursuit of spiritual teachings before his eventual re-discovery of the pure and original Islam heritage of his birth

Shaykh Fadhlalla established the Zahra Trust, a charitable organization, with centers in the USA, UK and the East, to make available the original Islamic teachings through courses and publications, and to promote the revival of the traditional systems of healing in conjunction with contemporary Western medicine. The Zahra Trust also supports a variety of charitable programmes in the East, such as orphanages, scholarships for children and educational centers where spiritual and secular subjects are combined and taught in a unified approach.

At present Shaykh Fadhlalla is also engaged in lecturing and writing books and commentararies on the Holy Quran and realted subjects, with particular emphasis on ethics, self-development, and gnosis ( 'irfan ).
