Interview with Mike of Kadaras.

Mike Hissam is the founder/writer/drummer of the etheral/atmospheric act Kadaras, and the final former drummer of Blood Coven. LadyEstrella gives him the chance to vent out at certain bands who remain nameless.

Kadaras has been around since 1994. They currently have 5 albums out, and I believe their latest, "The Song and the Serpent", is out either this month or next.

So, how are you?
Actually and that I am fine, Thanks. And yourself?
Well, my hair's been falling out, but anyway *laughs* I'm Kidding.
First of all, I would like to thank you so much for this interview. I understand you are extremely busy most of the time and I am very much flattered that you took the time for this.
I see and as well understand yet theres no need to be "Flattered" and or "honored" for me to do this or anything.I am just as human as anyone else out into the world and especially of that like yourself.
(ed.-He misunderstood. I meant because he's always busy.-LadyEstrella)

My first question is, how would you explain Kadaras to those who are unfamiliar with this act?
If I were to explain "what Kadaras is",and how would I have ever been able to do that? With words? with a series of words that would just sound like a comparison to another band, another face, another almost risking of 17 dolars to spend on a cd that may just sound like the everything else that youve already heard before? And would it then be any diffferent if I used words to describe the sound anyways,or what matter would it be to you?
Yet if you really would like to know, its sound and direction would be that of an "Ethereal,Atmosperic,Sludge and heaviness that Kadaras has always been known for in the underground".As a sound direction that is.
Lyrically, values are written to the anything and of topics that please me to write about, yet usually they are very personal expieriences of mine, and I write all the lyrics and Music for evreything and of the band and songs since the very first release back in 1994,which was entitled "dawn Of The awakened".
The reason I asked is for others, like if they are reading this and never heard of Kadaras, they might want to know what Kadaras is.
Yes and that i know and as well understand ,you may use any of the above examples of words as sound direction for your answering to that question.
How would you explain the symbol on your website, the cross standing out of those inverted crosses in the background? I was wondering about that when I saw your website. What does it mean?
Actually it is a very personal "symbolism" to me,in every "symbol" "Talosman",as well as "icon" there is "truth" in everything,no matter the form the appearence ,truth is universal in origin and relevant to the creator,or namely shall I say the believer and that is me.Yet the "Symbol" that you referred to stands for the rising of power over the seemingly usual matters and expected things in the world around us all by being different
and because of this is the true essence of "Occultism" (which therefore means and is "the hidden") and is what the I have always stood for and believed in,not by the "Axt" of what may appear to mean, yet by the intent.

I like...How long have you played drums?
I now have been playing drums for (and I am so sure most musicians in bands are only so eager to say and to answer these things) yet now I have been playing for 20 years,I am now 26 years old.
So you've been playing drums since you were a kid?
My father had been a drummer that was at the time when i was so very young,he had toured with a known act here in Ohio ,that in turn since he was a drummer ,so then would I follow in the footsteps or path if you will to ascend into playing as well, and I also remember at age 5 going downstairs to just bang away at them and sometime during the process I grew into being able to carry a beat if you will and close to 20 years later here I am now with you.
Wow...I understand that either before or during Kadaras, you also played drums for Blood Coven. How long did that last?
Actually KADARAS was a something that I never had really given up while I was with the known BLOOD COVEN.Yet KADARAS was a something that I was doing in the middle of recording the next e.p. for when I got the call to join BLOOD COVEN,and that KADARAS had always been a side project to do at the time between bands yet to answer your question I was with BLOOD COVEN almost no longer then a year that is.
I also recorded for the two tribute cds for dwell records on the SLAYER tribute and the JUDAS PRIEST tribute as well. Yet Kadaras was always a constant motion during my stay with BLOOD COVEN ,only temporarily delayed in time. Yet even before I left BLOOD COVEN...............I was going to resume KADARAS while i was with BLOOD COVEN as well if I hadnt left it that is.

That's my only question about Blood Coven. Do you hope that your current project acheives a higher goal and, well, that you guys are around for a long time, possibly to be remembered as legends of this scene?
My only regret or wish was to not have seen BLOOD COVEN go down into nothingness right after I left,It had about so much going for it and a returned second wind and so many things were set for BLOOD COVEN to happen ,yet I felt that maybe my entry into the band was a bit too late or......................just a falling star that was already in motion.Yet with KADARAS my hopes arent placed on an expectation of achievement, its only for the happiness of creating the "what" and the "How" I build Kadaras into that, and as far as legends? I wouldnt even have hoped for a such thing for right now,I only for right now have my sights set on just getting the actual cds out to everyone right now that is. Im not concerened and base my success upon the virtues of an underground name.

Who do you look up to as an influence? Did you have a certain idol in your life, an inspiration?
As far as drumming, it was always the more of faster drummers that is and no matter whom or the what.....from the great Dave Lombardo who was my first drum idol (whom I think most drummers had him set forth at least one time in their life) to even now Gene Hoglan,Pete Sandoval <---(COMO ESTAS? ),and others like of the such yet now as far as inspirations and others current and for the last few years I have had no inspirational drum influences. I am myself now,and this isnt a statement of the ego.
And as far as songwriting and of Kadaras I am very fond of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, the new SAMAEL,Anathema,a little of Type o Negative, early Cradle of Filth,W.A.S.P.,and others as well as yes MORBID ANGEL.

I understand you also have an online religious chapter and movement called The Order of Light. Could you explain what that is?
And how ever difficult this would be to explain without sounding like some "Highly esteemed ego" that 's exalted himself over anyone else into the world, yet I will explain as best as I can.The "order of light" is as first of and so most ,there are a number of those in and around the music scene community and that of here in Ohio who have and for sometime over the years have associated me with the arts of magick and as well as applied metaphysics yet this "order of light" in itself is an online as well as offline chapter of the movements which is essentiall as only a revised order of "The Golden Dawn" ,via which mostly that is the foundation, the doctrine is nothing more then the meeting ,the sharing and of opinions ,works ,ideas and leatrned theories with one another and that also we are a VERY select group that deals with though the membership of us is rather high,we do NOT accept those into this organization who are NOT of the sound mind, physical sense and so forth and so on. And how does one decide and make the difference in discernment if this is an online chapter?
It is done like this:
Through a few years and a number of hundreds of people and persons, then the each of us have encountered here online there is a certain personality thats really readily seen here online, that the "ones" to generally avoid are the those who are the "illusionaries and the chasers of these absolute ridiculous chasings of these online holy grails" as an example of having screenanmes of "ANGEL" ENLIGHTENED ONES,and other statements of the ego for the "Online assimulation" for what they cannot do for themselves. most of those who came into this organization had to PROVE themselves first before becoming an initiate. I have time for talk, yet not the time for attrition,my time is the valuedness of learning, not the time for folly. and the like such,I have a book that is to being published here soon online about and is called "The Dangers of Online Assimulation" as well that goes into so much further detail with the what i had just spoken about above.
What is your opinion about cults? Personally I think the media made up that name as a part of giving new religions a bad name, but what do you think?
My "opinion" about an anything is only relevant to me yet to answer your question, does anything have to have an opinion for security? or to become more familarized by someone else without your own personal and individual expierience? IF someone told you a person was bad does it make them "bad" essentially?Say if you were playing tennis with a racket, you could use the racket to play the game or to then strike someone with it,so then does that make it "bad".There's always the potential for an "anything" to be bad, yet to where the absolute fine line is that and when it then becomes a "Complication" rather then a "complication" is where the line is drawn between the good and bad. Yet Cannot someone's sense be used instead of intuition? Does it take the very so much thought for something so simple? Only a person whom knows what is right for "them" and not the "someone else" is then best for them. What is "right " to me may not be "right" for the someone else or that of a greater lifestyle, because of that with our own personal different perspections, also then do we have with our own viewpoints that way we should celebreate our own diversities we have in the world.
What other music do you listen to besides metal?
Actually the most of what i do listen to is alot of "New age" and likeness cds of that style and vain of music, about 80 percent of my listening comes from there even while here at the PC talking to you right now I am listening to "Solaris Universalis",and the other bands that I listen to are the other 20 percent of the time
I'm listening to Morbid Angel right now. I'm listening to the Formulas album.
I see and yes that is a good album and like all the rest of them as well.
So far I have this and Blessed are the Sick, My brother's getting Covenant for me on my birthday (Or before then)
I see then and that is great to then extend out your collection that is.
Definetly. That's one of my goals..well, that and to extend my Cannibal Corpse collection..well, my metal collection in general. Good metal is scarce over here in Idaho.
Im sure and that it is compared to what is here in Ohio that is.
Okay, I'm getting a little carried away here. Is there anything you'd like to ask me?
I have nothing to ask you at this time, that is.
That's all I have for this interview, do you have any last words?
To set forth the highest expressive nature of creating any music is the ultimate goal and as well as spiritualness in all that any musician can ultimately hope for and is as a goal.Just like and that when i set my own personal pathworking of spirituality when I was initiated back when I was 13 years old,I set forth to become the most renied and nature that I could, and music which evokes the feelings, the emotions and yeilds us to our most highest moments and lowest sides(?) and in itself isn't any the more different and is in itself the more direction with KADARAS that when I had started this project back in July 1994 was with that in mind to then combine the wills of spritual and musical to create the aptitude of pure expression that you could hear and sense feel and understand the emotion,I write and as well play. Anyone with a sense of true understanding (even untrue or not) should at least have a somewhat understanding of this at all. Yet I do NOT have any at all regards to the lets say "SOME OF THOSE" out there who are writing about topics they KNOW nothing and surely about, and or the using and assimulating of spirit ENTITIES that they should not having the involvements of. And these bands should without naming know especially of the whom and the what I am surely referring to about...............May i ask what do you know of and about RITUAL,CEREMONIAL,LOW,HIGH,SYMPATHETIC,etc. Magick enough to then use the creative vehicles and as the movements of energy known of us to as music to write and EVOKE this about?
While seemingly looking and to be so very "UNHOLY" doesnt it say and isnt it as well known THAT,If your so darkened one, master and whomever without any deragatory in mentions that I will make the mention about...........Would this ENTITY want you to appear into the world as to be taken seriously so that others whom know not about this entity and the like such may find it and him and this pathworking more accessable.
THEN looking and appearing as a spectacle?
What type of role model and image are you taken by the outside world of you cannot be taken seriously by those arond you?SATAN, PAZUZU,AND WHOMEVER,wouldnt want you to be sectioned off by being deemed as a traveling spectacle as in regards to that by you being the spectacle then so are they, and is this what you are then doing a SPIRIT a favor of? And what type then of follower are you? We are supposed to be looked up to not away from.
Ahh...that sort of thing really gets to you, huh?
This type of topic does somewhat annoy me and is the very reason of what separates the order of light from these meaningless doctrines of madness.
Don't worry, they'll get theirs in the end.
Yes and that I know so very so. J316,J212,MICAH-RVL,and still he lives!
