Interview with Xaphan and Xul from Azazel
(say that three times fast)
After this I realize now that it's time to get serious when doing interviews. Come to think of it, some of the questions I asked sounded like I have no life. I don't, but should it be publicized. In this case, YES. Because this has absolutely nothing to do with me. Azazel's latest album, Order of the Fly, is out now! For more info on that, there is a link to their website at the end of the interview.
So how are things going?
Xul-Well things are the same; we are looking for a deal and so far all we have are great reviews but no offers, I foresee a change soon so we will see.
Xaphan-Everything is going well.
How would you describe an album like "Order of the Fly"?
Xul-Order of the fly can be described as hateful, sick, and torturing Black Metal. Imagine the Hiroshima bomb obliterating thousands of people, while "Satan" is being screamed over the already screaming souls.
Xaphan- "Order of the Fly" is pure apocalyptic satanic Black Metal done the way we do it. Fuck this Euro sounding Black Metal, which is what you will not find on this CD. Totally blasphemy and evil is what this CD represents.
How did you feel when you met Azazel of Ancestor, considering Azazel is also the name of your band?
Xul-Its a small world; bands and record labels deal with this all the time and it's no big deal. Supposedly there is a band in Finland with the name Azazel and they want to sue us...for what...they are long since dead and forgotten. The new breed has come to reclaim the demon name in this world. Hail Azazel.
Xaphan-When I picked this Infernal Name I did so because it had meaning to me as does our music. It was long after Azazel went from a concept to a full fledge band that I became aware of others using the name "Azazel". Azazel from Ancestor was the first I meet that goes by this name but he has change his name legal and I consider him a good friend from past conversations. As for this band in Finland wanting to sue us, they can fuck off! I have never heard of them until the email and as far as I'm concerned they are dead. We are Azazel and if this "cult" band from Finland wants to threatening and cry over it so be it. It's quite hilarious to me that this is a "cult" band and no one has every heard of them. I intend to keep this name and who the fuck is this Finnish band? Keep crying pussies.
How is your new drummer working out for you?
Xul-The new drummer "Freako" is now coming together and we are now working on new material and cover songs to employ to the name. Problems always come with drummers; it's rare to get one that is 100%
compatible but he is working out so far.
Who is your all-time idol?
Xaphan- I do not worship anyone or anything! Idolization and worship are christian concepts that I do not participate in. Idols are for the weak and insecure.
Xul- I have no idols. People are just People and I could never "worship" someone as an idol. I'm not a groupie and won't piss my pants if someone "famous" is in the same room with me... they are just humans. Having an idol would be christian like and I am against christianity. I fuck nuns and cum on jesus christ.
Hypothetical situation: You were locked in the house, alone, with no beer, smokes, TV, NOTHING at all, and no way to get out. What would you do?
Xul- hmmm.... I would sit patiently until I get out. I would figure a way out.
Xaphan-Hypothetically speaking I would write music using whatever utilities I could.
What is the most annoying commercial you've ever seen?
Xul- I don't watch TV. I spend my time financially securing myself and after that I support Azazel full time.
Xaphan-Any type of commercialism annoys me. (ed.- I agree -LadyEstrella)
Out of all three guys in your band, which one of you could kick the most ass?
Xul-Azazel is an allegiance and are allies to each other, fighting between each other would be the downfall of the band and is not necessary.
All right, that's about all the questions I could fit in my tiny little soon to be 17-year-old head. Any final words?
Xul-Thanks for the interview Sonija. Support the US Black Metal Hordes, and visit the Azazel website at http://redirect.to/azazel. The "Order of the Fly" CD is out now for $8 and is very limited. Zines, distro's, and labels get in contact with us for promo copies and/or interest. Hail Satan! Hail Azazel!
Xaphan-Look for us on the Unholy Blood comp being done by Mormo of Demogorgon and the Lost Disciple Records comp titled Visionaries of the Macabre Vol. 2 - An Evil Elite as well as the Mayhem tribute "Reges Mortis Aeterni". Hail TRUE US Black Metal! Hail Satan!
