My Insane Number System
This is a confusing but useable number system that I made up to confuse store clerks at the cash register. This could also work the other way, a store clerk could really confuse a customer with this.. watch....
All you have to do is subtract one dollar from an amount no less than two dollars and no more than $9.99. Then, you take the dollar that you subtracted and put it before the decimal point. Whatever is left goes after the decimal. Here's an example...
$4.80 becomes $1.380 (you say "a buck three eighty")
Here are some more examples:
$6.75 or $1.575 ("a buck five seventy five")
$9.99 or $1.899 ("a buck eight ninety nine")
$4.72 or $1.372 ("a buck three seventy two")
$8.56 or $1.756 ("a buck seven fiddy six")
$7.77 or $1.677 ("a buck six seventy seven")
Get it??
You can tell people costs and such and confuse them beyond belief, it is especially effective if the person already thinks you are an idiot.
